Hi! Does anyone know of any cheap places to board at in the canyon/amarillo, Texas area or maybe even under 2 hours away? I am thinking about leasing a friend's mare and showing her, but with me being in college, I can't really afford expensive barns. Do you know of any pasture board even that may have indoor arenas or nice places to work in? Thanks in advance! http://www.horsegroomingsupplies.com/horse-forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

Texas is a big state ya'll ;) I don't know that there's anyone on the forum in that area. most of us are either in the DFW area or south.

You won't find many indoor arenas here, covered if you're lucky but usually just outdoor.

You might want to try Craigslist or local tack shops. Tack shops around here keep big binders full of ads for boarding stables, training, tack cleaning, etc. Others have bulletin boards instead or in addition to the binder.

I agree with palogal, dunno if anyone is around you.

Finding an indoor here for cheap is really hard around here, especially if stalls are available. I'd figure in an area with even better weather in general it's not as common to have indoors.

I think I found a barn for a great price with a HUGE indoor..now I just need to find a way to get her down there. I don't know if the owners will haul her or not, since it's such a long drive. Do you guys know of any cheap or good deal shippers? I want someone that is good with horses too and not have her starve or dehydrate or stolen or anything. Thanks.

FredRock-I forgot to mention that I live in IL and so does the mare, so I can't really look at any tack shops down there. Haha sorry to confuse everyone :p

Some trainers or BO s will haul for you. It's not cheap. When I had Bogey shipped from the west chitown burbs to Dallas it cost me 700 but that was 7 years ago.

Well this would be from the springfield area to amarillo. The mare is at their house though, so I don't really have a barn owner. I ride at a barn, but they are like 45 mins away and have never seen the horse. Have you heard from anyone that used a shipper?

Has anyone ever heard of Minard Family Horse Transportation in IL or Bella Peregrina Ranch in Texas? I was wondering if anyone has ever used them or shipping or heard anything about them?

My aunt who lives up in Illinois just used a professional shipper to move her horses to Indiana. Had nothing but good things to say about him. I'll ask her what the company was called.
