Remember the pony I was talking about a while back in the "Stocking up on horses before winter" thread? Well, we finally got to see her, and let me tell you that it was VERY depressing but relieving at the same time.

He couldn't even remember her name, he thinks its Misty. She's been tied up in a barn for 3 months. She's skin and bones, her ribs and spine are both protruding, she has mange we believe, the hair on her nose is completely rubbed off from wear her halter is, her hooves are overgrown, and she hasnt been dewormed in over a year. She's a sweety, though. He said around 12 years old, I think she is around 13hh. Supposedly the person he got her from barrel raced on her and such.

He was feeding her old hay. Want to know his excuse? "So if I have to shoot her she wont be full of good hay."

Well, the relieving part is that she's coming home next week and starting then will be her road to recovery. She'll live a long, happy life with us. There's always the possibility of selling her after she's 100% again, but I'm going to try and convince Mom to keep her. :) She's deserves a good life after all the hell she went through with these people.

Anyway I'm going to rename her.. I'm thinking maybe Harmony. What do you guys think?

Oh the poor baby, she has a kind face. I hope your mom will want to keep her, she deserves to be loved forever after all she's been through. I'd like to shoot people like that, I just don't understand why people like him have horses or any animals. I know you can't wait to get her.

What is wrong with people? How could you starve an animal like that? I just don't understand how some people sleep at night.

Harmony is getting a nice, new home for the holidays- guess her Christmas came early this year :)

Enjoy helping her rehab. She's going to be beautiful.

On another note, I can't believe some people...at least he's giving her to you.

That poor pony. There's just no understanding the disregard of some people.

Please tell your mom that all of us at Baywind Forum think she's a saint. You too, of course, but we can just tell you directly. :)

We're all going to be so happy to watch this pony fluorish under your care.

I agree with Ryder - she just got the best Christmas present ever - and I'm willing to bet top dollar that she'll try her darnedest to return the favor in time. :) I love the name Harmony for her, it seems fitting.

It's really upsetting. When I first saw her I thought "she's not as bad as I thought she would be" but then I got closer, felt her, and realized that the winter coat she had on was hiding most of her ribs. There was literally no meat there, the only place she looked fat was her big wormy pot belly. And I guess you guys are right, it will be an early Christmas present for her. :) If I don't get too attached to her I'd love to find her a home with a child that will love and and enjoy her the rest of her years.. if she's suitable.

Thanks everyone! I'll be sure to get more pictures of her as soon as she comes.

Harmony's a fab name! Tho for once I don't mind calling a pony "Baby". She's not so mucha Misty to me.

Once more you're wowing me with your ability to keep taking these guys n gals in. Keep at it, Morgan & Morgan's mum and everyone else out there...these guys need people like you.

I think Harmony is the PERFECT name for her :) It just warms my heart to know that she will have a loving and caring home very soon. Whe do you actually get to bring her home? Her face is so sweet, it's like she's lost hope though :(

How do you know this man? Did he have a reason for even having her? I don't know if I'd be able to control myself after he said the "shoot her" comment...I just can't wait until she's in your care!

I'll pass everything that you've guys have said onto my Mom. :)

She doesn't have any spark in her eyes, but she's really friendly. When we got there he was shoveling the crap from where she was tied.. And there was a ton of it in the tractor so I can only imagine how much she was standing in/on.

I'm not sure how my Mom knows him.. I just know that she has known him for a long time. We live in a very small, rural area where everyone pretty much knows everyone.. His last name has a very bad reputation. His daughter's boyfriend bought the pony for their kid, and then left her(the daughter with the kid, pony, etc) a little while afterwards. Since then no one has really been feeding the pony and she has just been tied in the barn. I guess he wont let her out into the pasture because she wont stay in the fence.. But his fences are really bad.

EDIT to say she'll be here next week sometime. He's trailering her here for us since we dont have a trailer.

He also has 2 belgians and a percheron which I feel really bad for. I went and pet the only one that wouldn't shy away from me.. Lets just say it wasnt a pretty sight..
