We got Muffin a 45 inch (diameter, tall) horse soccer ball. It's just the rubber one but if he gets to liking it I will get him the more expensive one with the cover. The rubber one I can't leave out there unsupervised. It's not built as strong so they don't recomend leaving it out.
Here he is the first time seeing the ball. As with his other toys he won't play with them unless he is by himself or you tell him to go get them. Other wise he just fallows you around wanting to know what you have or wanting Kisses.
He's really dirty, it just rained the night before. Chris, My Husband was out there with me.

Edit: Here is the new video from today. Second time with the ball.

Thanks :) Muffin is such a fatty and out of shape right now. I'm used to seeing him all the time so I don't notice him getting a bigger and bigger belly and getting out of shape. He sure needs something to play with and some extra exercise.
I know he will be playing with that ball in no time. I will just have to put it out there and watch him through the window. He won't play if I'm out there usually.
I don't click at Muffin because I am training him to drive and non-horse people think clicking is what you do to horses, they like it!? Chris is not a horse guy so he clicked when Muffin was trying to come between the ball and us and it spooked him a little. I will have to click at Muffin more when I am around him but not as a cue to move. I don't want him thinking clicking means move because then every non-horse person that comes up and clicks is going to confuse him, especially when he is pulling a cart and I want him standing there not moving.
I have seen people walk up to a stopped horse and click at them thinking the horse likes it and thats what you do when you see horses. Then the horse wants to start pulling the cart forward. So, I don't click as a cue to move plus I think it's annoying. lol

That's cute.. I've been thinking about getting one for our guys.. I think with all the wind we have here it would constantly be moving. Heaven likes to chase things that blow in the wind. So a horse size soccer ball might be fun for her

That was cute :) You can tell he was getting a little more curious when the wind was making the ball move around. I have to agree that the husband and Muffin kiss was adorable. Your husband is handsome!! I bet he would like the toy that Cheval has for solon, the treat dispensing one. He was checking out the ground after the ball moved. Then again if you want him to be getting more exercise then that would kinda defeat the purpose, lol. Cute video! Always love to see the muffin man :)

Looks like it won't be too long before Muffin figures out that he's supposed to play with that thing. Some horses might take a long time to get near one. I think he was just trying to figure out what you wanted him to do with it!

Thank you everyone :) Chris is a handsome guy, he is such a sweet heart too. He just doesn't know the first thing about horses. lol I'm working on it :) He doesn't dress like a cow boy, I never was in to the cowboy look anyways but....We went to a wedding that was cowboy themed and I got Chris a nice pair of black Wranglers, Nice black felt cowboy hat and some black Justin boot (they had a shirt picked out for him to wear) and he was HOT!!! :cowboy: Ohh My did he look good! I'm not in to cowboys but I think I am now!!! :) Everyone was commenting on how Chris looked so good, even the guys!! No one had ever seen him dress like that before and he really did pull it off well, he was the best man in the wedding.
I just went out and put the ball in Muffins pen for the second time..... He went NUTS for it!!! Right off the bat he came over and I lifted it over his pen, tossed it in and he went crazy playing with it!! I had to run in the house and get the camera real fast :) I'm uploading it now, I will post as soon as it's done.
Cloedoll,
What trick are you talking about? The head turning trick? I always go out there and ask Muffin how he is doing and I put my arms up and turn my head to the said while saying "what you do in Muffin" and one day he started doing it back. lol He is a big copy cat so if I do something he wants to do it. So, I just went with it and gave him treats for turning his head over and now he does it when you say "what" or turn you head to the side.

The one I got was from a place close to me. It's rubber and you air it up to 45 inches tall. It was $50. You can't leave it in the stall or unsupervised.
Heres the one I got:

Now that I know Muffin likes it I want to get him a Equi-Spirit 40" Equine Soccer™ Ball . It has a cover around it that helps protect the ball inside and I think the rubber ball is made thicker on this one too so it can handle more abuse. I like the fact that if the horse did pop the ball some how, with this one it couldn't bite off chunks of rubber because it's in a case. You can wash the case too and buy replacement balls. For a 40 inch ball it's around $120 but they are soo cool!! They look like a soccer ball, happy face, or eight ball.

There was one other link someone posted in another tread (I will go back and find it). It was for a 40 inch yoga ball that were only around $26. They only hold up to 250 pounds of weight but I guess they work just fine for horses to kick around but you can't leave those out either.
I really want to get Muffin the Equi-Spirit 40" Equine Soccer™ Ball for Christmas :)

Thankx :) Muffin is lovin that ball!! I put it in today too for about 45 mins. He was worn out way before that but he sure had a blast. This turned out to be perfect for him and it will help him find his feet and play more. He was doing a very slow lope keeping the ball in front of him rolling. I was shocked!!! I have never seen him do that before!! He thinks canter/lope means run faster then a trot. lol I don't lunge him at a lope because he's still young so I was shocked that he did such a slow controlled lope.
They also have 25 inch balls for the baby's and mini's to play with.

Ok, Muffin is too smart!!! So this ball has a plug, it's a white plastic stick thing that tappers down and plugs the hole. You pull it out and ball deflates... Yep, you guessed it!
The second time with the ball Muffin was already wondering what that little white speck was on the blue ball. He would try to get it with his teeth but couldn't quite grab it with the ball squishing down. Well, He finally figured out how to get it yesterday! Ohh Great, now he knows what flattens the ball!!! So, he pulled the plug out and there went the ball and now that it's flat he can tackle is, stomp on it, grab it with his mouth and fling it around. He was going nuttz over the half flat ball.
I had to run out there and get it from him before he really did put a hole in it. I found the plug on the ground, aired the ball back up and it holds air. Weirdly enough I don't have duct tape!? So, I need to go get some and put that over the plug so he can't pull it out and totally thrash a $50 ball.
Umm, can we say bad design.. Or too smart of a horse? lol
