Okay, I finally measured the horses and I think I got it right. I need a 74" for Booty and a 78 or 80" for Norman. Now I only had myself to measure so I could be off by an inch or two on Norman... is that going to be okay?
Anyways... I need help finding a good deal (ebay or otherwise) on a medium weight winter turnout blanket. I need them to open in the front so I don't have to throw it over their heads.
They are in pasture turnout 24/7 with a run in.
Help? Anyone?

I'm not the super shopper so any particular good deals I can't help with, but generally, there's enough fudge room in blankets to make them work if they are close in size. I'd go one bigger rather than one smaller if I wasn't sure.
Most blankets open in front, but I wonder if you'll find after the first few times, they'll stick their heads right in and you won't have to bother unbuckling the fronts.
For brand, there's several good ones out there, in particular, I'll always recommend Weatherbeeta. Any outdoor blanket should say waterPROOF, not just water resistant.
The higher the denier (1200 is good) the better they'll be for ripstop.

I have a few brands that I really like ;) Rambo, Weatherbetta, Big D & SSTack
I'm with WB that 1200 or greater denier is a must as well as waterproof :)

There is a tack shop in New Auburn, I wonder if they carry blankets?
Here is the website, I think I saw a blanket or two on there, altho not sure if it is the kind you are looking for.

I just got a new blanket and I'm so happy with it!! It's a Weatherbeeta Orican medium weight turnout blanket with 1200 denier. It's open front with two belly straps and rear leg straps. I got it for $99 out the door...free shipping :) I've never ordered from this site but it came in like 2 days!!

Thanks guys! I think I will end up getting them a Dura-tech 1200 med. weight turnout. Seems to be like a good deal and I don't know how much we'll use them or how well they'll like them.

I hope they fit :) I can say Lil'Bit has sure gotten my $ worth out of hers LOL she's tough on blankets!
I really need to go try it on her since she's grown again  but here's from last year - it's not so purple any more but hey its still waterproof and it's over 4 years old now.

I am nervous about the fit too, since this is my first time ordering blankets. But Vick and WB helped me with the fine print!
I will definitely post pictures when they get here. Norman's is red and Booty's is purple! Funny how excited I get about new horsey stuff.

I've had closed fronts and open fronts. I always end putting them on and off over their heads. I prefer the closed fronts now because I found there is less rubbing on the shoulders. I also got one size larger for that reason too, less rubbing. But that's just my experience. Hope you love yours!

I just discovered Legacy Tack myself and really like them. Their shipping is quick.
