I moved Ludi to a new barn, just 15 mins max from home! Here are some pictures taken of him on moving day and over the weekend. I was in Sweet Briar, VA at Sweet Briar College with my daughter for their open house weekend. What a great weekend it was, very impressive place.
So Ludi is settling in wonderfully. He has a stall that turns out to his own little paddock and then into another larger pasture. He has 2 new buddies, Bandit, a 3 y/o Buckskin and the other one's name I can't remember but he is in his 20's. She is also getting a Lippanzaner this weekend, a lady she bought some barn gear from is getting out of the horse business and just gave him to my new barn owner. I can't wait to see him.
here are a few, the rest are in my album........

Great pics.
I'm glad you like his new home!
I do like it, it is so much closer to home. I can run over there, groom him and spend some time with him and be back home in no time!
I just put the picts in my album. I can't believe the difference in him since the last picts I took in July. I guess I didn't really notice how big he was getting until I compared the picts. I can really tell with me standing next to him. I have not idea how big he is, I'll have to see if Jaime has a height tape. He doesn't even look like the same horse. Back in July, he had just been gelded, so he still had that "baby" face.

Oh he is gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just love him!!!! I can't wait to see what he looks like when he is full grown. Now what is his breeding? I know he was a R.R. horse but don't remember who he was from.

He's so beautiful and so big! Your little boy is growing up! It looks like he's enjoying his new pretty friend. The new barn sounds perfect. It's nice for the barn to be close, Delta is maybe 8 minutes away so it's easy to get there.

He's quite the good looking guy- and I bet he's going to be tall. Definitely think you'll need that stepladder to get on him!
Looks like you found a really nice place, too!

Not if I get there first!:p....:D..........:innocent:
Mary I know you are loving having him closer & he looks like he has settled in well. You might want to start shopping for a ladder now (& a trailer with a sunroof) cause I predict that he will finish growing at about 17 H!:)

What a cutie!! He looks much taller then 15.2. You can use a tape measure, you don't have to use a horse measuring stick or tape. Just measure from the ground up to where his withers tie into his back, place the tape just behind his front leg straight up to his his back. Every 4 inches is a hand so just divide by 4 and you have your measurement. He looks much taller then 15.2 but then again pictures can be deceiving. Muffin looks fat and short and hes over 15 hands. lol
That is great he is close to home. I bet your are so excited!! Can't wait for pictures of the BO's new horse too :)

Where do you keep Rum?
Rum boards with my daughter's trainer. I would have liked to have moved Ludi there but she won't have room until May. She boards a lot of the Averett University students' horses so once the school year is over she will have room and Ludi will move over their to start training. Her barn is about 15 minutes away and is very nice.
The vet guesstimated that Ludi will be in the 17 hh range. Thanks Iris for the measuring tips..........

It is a pretty spot. They are across the street from a beautiful lake. They are not on the lake but their neighbors that live down at the end of the road have their house on the lake. It is very undeveloped and is pristine since it is one of the water sources for our neighboring county. I would love to have a place there someday, but houses are very hard to find on that lake.
We were coming back the other night and we saw a fawn which looked as if it was stuck in a drainage pipe in a ditch on the side of the road. So of course we had to go back...........
Being very cautious, we were able to shoo it out of the ditch. We could see there was a problem with its eyes, it appeared to have a lot of discharge and from what we could tell was blind. My daughter was about to cry that we it was going to be left. I shooed it back off the road and into the cow pasture. It was sad we had to leave it but unfortunately with the huge deer population, it is survival of the fittest. We didn't dare touch it, and didn't know who to call to help it. I will let Jaime know so she can keep an eye out for it and let her other neighbors know as well, it was right down the road from the barn.

I pm'd RR to let her know I posted new picts. She made some comments on the album pages. She is very proud of how he has turned out so far. I know it must be bittersweet for her to see him with someone else, but that is the horse business, I guess.:(

It will be........they are in the process of building a new barn. Got the roof on last week. They have 50 acres of pastures. And they lease another 20 that they are going to use for their jumping area. They have a ring now and will be adding another with a round pen.
They are a sweet young couple, Jeffrey does most of the construction himself with friends and family helping. He is a firefighter and has a tree removal business. Jaime works in customer service and is a professional interior decorater, although she said that business is so bad right now she can't get any work in that field.
So I am happy we got in on the early stages of their business. I think they will be great barn owners. Jaime is very organized and has her paperwork, down! The current barn Ludi is in, although old, is very well kept and tidy. I loved my old barn owners but they were too busy with other things to keep up with their barn, they left all the work to their barn help and things just were not being maintained. They pretty much gave up on finishing their riding ring. They did take really good care of their horses, including Ludi and I credit them for getting his weight on and keeping it on. I will miss them but I like his new place a lot better, most of all that it is so close to home.
