I bought an older Miller Klimke dressage saddle at one of the nice local tack shops last year for $400. It doesn't fit Niko so I don't use it but my friend wanted to try it. So she had the saddle fitter come out and of course it fit her horse almost perfectly but he tested for a broken tree and guess what? It has a broken tree!! Good thing I only used it on Mia very rarely, i'm almost positive it was broken before I bought it. But good thing I don't really need it... now I know what to be looking for if I am ever shopping for a new one. Grrrr! Anyone want a nice decoration??:p

That's a total bummer! It's good to know how to test for a broken tree, but doesn't do much good if you're already stuck with it, lol!

Hubby Gene fixed my saddle with a broken tree. He stripped it down to
teh broken tree and patched it with fiberglass for boats.
Works good as new.
I'm not sure how to strip a dressage saddle-
this was an old time bronc saddle.

I remember someone fixing a broken tree at my dressage barn... I didn't have the presence of mind to ask "how" at the time. :( Darn.
