Just talked with the shipper. She hopes to be here before noon tomorrow and Bandit will have a large open trailer to be delivered in. I hope he loads like a good boy and is good for his new mom. She told me I have "grandma rights" and get to visit him. :D It does sound like he is going to a wonderful home and that makes me very happy. He is going straight to a trainers for 3 months and the trainer even has her own mustang so is familiar working with them.

And to think, my boy almost ended up going to a home where they couldn't afford the gas to get him. That thought still scares me.

glad to hear that he is going to such a great home. .. that thought of not having enough money to cover the gas to come get a horse would worry me also

There was a reason that gas issue came up.
I am so glad that he has a good home.
Keep us posted, as it sounds like she will keep your posted.

The shipper was here earlier than I expected, so I didn't even get the chance to groom him out like I was hoping too. You know, that last little bit together to say good bye.

It was raining and the rig was too big to maneuver to get down to the barn, so I had to bring Bandit to the rig. Now realize - last spring I couldn't get this boy out of his comfort zone of the field. But he lead perfectly next to me. Now he did seem to question what the heck was that big silver thing sitting there and was a little jumpy as we got closer. I also don't think the driver was helping. She was trying to cluck at him to get him to move forward and I had to explain that someone else clucking at him is only going to distract him and make him more nervous.

There was one horse already in the rig, and a full-size divider between the two of them and then they left the whole back open for Bandit to run.

I stepped up in the trailer and quietly talked enouragement to him. As soon as I got the driver to step back and stop clucking, bandit started sniffing in there and then stepped up in right after me. Sorta saying "Well if you say its ok, then it must be ok." Way easier than I thought it would be to get him in there and it broke my heart to think of how much he trusts me now and yet here I was selling him.

I've been preparing myself for a while now and did not expect it to be this hard to see him go. At least I know he is going to a good home and I can go see him, but still, I can't believe he is no longer in my barn. And here I am still blubbering like a baby.

Aww I went through the same thing Cat. And my lil horse went to a home only 30 minutes away. I havent seen him since we sold him though becuase I can't bring myself to do it. It feels like I let him down and I want to see him soo badly but I know I'll start to cry if I go. Im glad you found him a great home though. Thats awesome!

Aw, just try to take comfort in the fact that you found a great home for him and you will be able to check on him and see how well he is progressing.

Oh Cat((HUGS)). dang it, pass the tissues people.
Selling or giving a horse away is like giving your child away, but legal, and the pain is there, its gonna be there.
You loved him, and he trusted you, he trusted you to make sure he had the best home possible and you have done that.
I still look at Storm and say, only if. I so love that horse, but I know in my heart he is where he needs to be.
I am glad that he is going to a trainer, and will be close to you when he gets to his home.

Thanks. The tissues are much appreciated. My poor cuddle kitty is wondering why she is soaked at this point.

Awww.... I know how you feel. When I sold Mia we delivered her. It was way hard to unload her and put her into a strange pen and drive home with an empty trailer...

Bandit sounds like he has great home! I know Toby and Willie are going to be happily waiting for you to come see them.
