View Full Version : Looking for a job..
Yep, I am looking for a job.(another one..) I have to get up early tomorrow, and fix myself up a little..:p Ha ha, I have to save up to get my GED.. You know its hard to find a job when your 16, no one wants to hire you. Oh well I'll get something I suppose.. So Do any of you teens out there have full time jobs?

I work two part time jobs if that counts lol. I work at a Drive thru coffee shop 2-5 days a week and then I do feeding at a ranch as well as riding occasionally every evening and some 1-2 mornings.
I have been working since was 14  not a smart decision but oh well...

I work 30-40 hours a week at a stable doing everything that needs to be done. I'm the only employee besides a barn manager who comes in once a month and complains about dust and bird poop. I'm 16, too. Finding work when you're under 18 is tough. I'm lucky I found this job. I do love working with horses. It's what I'm best at. :) It's really exhausting physical work, though, and since there's no one to fill in for me I can never take a sick day or go on vacations. I get the weekends off to recharge which is nice.
Good luck with your job hunt and GED :)
Mary's, Mary's! lol. Someone in my class works there part time...that's where I want to work to get an employee discount! :p Idk, it might be a little far for you though, but it would be cool, I could drive 2 miles and see you (and I'd have another excuse for going to the tack store, hehe)!
hph working at a coffee shop sounds fun! :D 14!! Wooow you go girl, I couldn't do it.
ck Thanks!! Yea, I still have to feed/clean up after 6 horses ontop of all that everyday.
Zoel That does sound demanding, but rewarding! I would love to be able to get paid for doing that. :)
JGH Oh that would be awesome!! I might have to go look, it is alittle far though. I need to meet you there some day! :)

I started working at Wendy's about two weeks after I turned 16 and worked there on and off for seven years. It was a good job that taught me a lot.
Good luck with it. Keep us posted.
Yea, I would love to work some were with allot of people. I am a little shy so I think I need that, Hmm.. I think Wendy's now requires a high school diploma.. Even Walmart does.. Thanks!

I started working at 15 at a Marie Callendar's restaurant, first as a hostess/cashier then as a waitress. Decent money, enough to save up and buy my first horse (who I still have so many years later!). Hard work, but really... most all work is hard in some way, especially at that age when you are just getting started and haven't had to do much before.
Haffie - why do you think starting at 14 was a bad idea? I have always felt that learning how to support myself as needed at an early age (even though I was fortunate to still have full parental backup) was an excellent idea.
Frankly, if you want a lot of "stuff", you should durn well learn how to work to get it (no matter what age you are!). So kudos to you for getting out there :) Even the most basic of jobs will teach you something about work, people, and yourself.

Well with your graphics you should really have an account on deviantart and sell some of those great drawings....just a thought.
As for jobs I worked over the summer at the water park near my house...mimiuim wage with maximum work but it was fun. I would try some resteraunts you can make a good amount of dinero on tips if you are a waitress.

42many: Ok maybe it wasn't bad bad lol. The money was nice and learning to support myself early was a good thing. I have now been working for 4 yrs already and I am 18 so that is kinda a while but it was a good learning experience.

I hate to be the wet blanket on your job hunt but...if you can muster up and out to job hunt, why can't you get up and go to school too? I got my first job at 14, pt cleaning houses. I didn't like school but I always went. I worked after school. Knowledge is power and living on even $15/hr isn't easy much less minimum wage. I support you getting a job, but I also want a good future for you.
I read where you said you are saving for your GED? That's great! I guess I didn't know a person had to pay for that. I dropped out of school the Feb of my senior year w/3.5 grd point. I also got a GED, then years later I went to college when I figured out minimum wage jobs were just that, minimum wage. Best of luck!
