I know its a bit early to be thinking about Christmas, so sorry in that respect. However, we are getting pretty excited here. We have a rather large parade in Whitemarsh here every year before Thanksgiving. Work is normally in it with a large variety of dogs, walking. This year we made a float, so we are all pretty excited. The float will have an antique sleigh be pulled by dogs (well I work at a dog daycare). The dogs we are using are a Mastiff, St. Bernard (in front), a Chocolate Newfie (Behind the first two), and a Great Pyre in the sleigh. All the dogs handlers will be dressed as elves. There are also many walkers (best turn out on walkers yet), we have over 50 dogs and the owners walking with us in the parade.

My friend, who designed this float, also does one for rescue every year in the fourth of July parade and I got to help! This years theme was "A Salute to those who Serve our Nation". We had a Gazebo on the float and several veterans riding, on of which was a triple amputee. Along the bottom of the float was a photo of all our local military members that lost their lives in the current war. There were also several dogs walking, to tie the float to the rescue that sponsors it every year. We won first prize.

I don't have pics of the Christmas float yet, but I will after the weekend. However I do have a few pics of the Fourth of July float that I'll attach in my next post. (they're on the other computer)

Just thought I'd share, as I'm pretty excited about it all!

all right, here are the pics of the fourth of July Float, and I'll post the Christmas float pics after the weekend. Not a bad day to post this...on Veteran's Day.

The first pic, is the float, the second is of some of our rescue walkers, the third is of the veterans who participated (in front on the right was our triple amputee - this guy is AMAZING!!), and a better pic of the float to see the pics of those who lost their lives in the current war.

I have to say, for someone who preferred to be a spectator rather than participant in parades; we had an awesome time in the Fourth of July Parade. Despite the fact that it poured through most of it. We were the only dry bodies at the fireworks afterwards. We all sat in the gazebo on the back of the float and watched them. We had a wonderful time.

The weather is looking good for the Christmas float, 50's and sunny, at this point. So we won't freeze like we did last year, rainy and upper 30's. Good thing since we are meeting on site at 6 AM to put it together.
