So I think we're about to go pick up Jack to bring him to his new home. I REALLY hope he'll like it.. we sure have worked hard on it! Anyway, I'll be sure and post pics. I'm 99% sure it'll be this morning though there's a chance it'll be tomorrow. My hauling help has always been UBER-reliable so I don't forsee an issue. :)

:fingers crossed: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, he's here. And he's doing okay so far. He's only been here almost two hours.. we first turned him out and he immediately grazed a little. Then he trotted around a little and checked stuff out. Was fine for a bit and then the dogs at the back of the pasture started barking while he was there.. he took off- not full speed but more of a showing out run. He ran up to the far gate, back down the fence line, back through the little wooded path that comes around to the gate at the back door. He skidded to a stop at that gate, looked at me and neighed. :( I felt bad for him lol. I NEVER would've thought I would feel like this, but here I am!

Anyway, he did a little more running around, which I'm glad because I Feel certain that he's seen the entire fence line now that he's run along it lol. He has drank plenty of water and has had a nice roll in the grass, no poop yet but I'm watching. I dropped a handful of feed just in the grass by his water and he just now discovered it. Looks like that's gone and now he's just grazing beside it. *sigh* HOPEFULLY the crazy part is over and I can relax now! :D I really hope he'll be good for the night bc I know I won't sleep well, wondering what he's up to out there..

Pics!

Had to WALK out to get him at Buck's Hollow. "oh! you wanted ME to come THERE?? Why didn't you call me-- oh, you DID call me??"

Aww!!! That's wonderful!!!! Most horses adapt to being only horses in time! He seems like he's pretty confidant!! Love your fencing! We have some fence we need to put up but I've put it off for 5 years now. . .lol. All you people fencing like crazy are inspiring me!! If Jack gets lonely you should join the goat club we're starting here on the forum! Sterling had 4 goat buddies for years when she was an only horse!

Thanks guys!! He's really seeming to calm down now and in turn, so am I. Now I'm EXCITED when I look out the window (every five minutes lmao) and see him grazing, instead of worrying about the next "new place fit"- LOL! I think it was on FB I said, it's not so much HIM I worry about, or the fence that WE put up.. but the fence along the side and back of the pasture are OOOLLLDDD.. rusted but still standing and have a lot of vines/brush cover growing on them so that they're more like a big hedge in most spots. There is a cane break at the back of the pasture (which I couldn't even get through) and also an old fence running through that. For some reason those are what are on my mind but it's no different than some of the fence line at Buck's Hollow where he came from and had no issue, right? :)

Just came back in, he DID poop and he's not calling out to me anymore. Sticks by me like glue when I'm walking around the pasture, but once he realizes I'm leaving he goes on his way alone and nibbles at stuff he finds. :) That makes me feel better that he's not milking it so much anymore. ;)

EW, a goat has been a thought and is a possibility. My farrier (who brought him over for me- LOVE him!!) also knows someone with a four-year-old blue roan for sale. Young, but he says the horse is a rock on the trail and he has also roped off of him, so he's going to let us know if the pending sale on him falls through.. he's either $500 or $700, can't remember. I wouldn't mind having another, but also have to think of the pain of trying to work with one while the other loses their mind.. annoying!

There IS a goat at the back edge of the pasture, and Jack will be able to see/hear him through the cane break. I hear him every morning just a calling.. it's so funny because it "feels" like we're out in the country a little bit, but then we are backed up to the first city-limit street so there is a row of houses through the trees with lots of dogs.. and then an old GOAT. LOL!!

Your going to love having him in your back yard!! It is so different than having them some place else. I have a huge shade tree in the corner of my pasture and I had my bf build a bench around it. Some times when I need some "me" time, I'll go down there in the evening with a cup of coffee and just hang out with my girls. The things my horses know, as long as they can't talk I shoud be ok. ;)
