Another hunter pace day today. I am lucky enough that someone is willing to take pictures, I can't ask that they be good pictures!

Lots of silly moments, he was ultra lazy. If Stacy sees this, look at my hands, hard to see I know, you will see that I am prone to puppy paws too.

Holy crap! Look at him tuck those front legs up!

Solon and I see some of the obstacles, but uh... we go around them. Yeah, we're cool like that... ha!

Do you have any more shows this year? How has the year gone so far? That's just so damn cool.

It's so pretty out there, it never gets old.

My friend was ponying her child, we had lots of laughs dropping the lead line, etc.

Looks like a really fun place to ride. I wish we had something like that around here. If I want obstacles I have to drag them out from around the barn!

It's been a tough year. A month off for an abscess and time to get fit again. Tendon tear to recover from earlier this year (which looks great, so happy about that). The heat has been intense and he is not a great sweater.

Will probably do a little show later this year, nothing exciting, and maybe one more after that. Looking forward more to some schooling over at the cross country courses - definitely be some laughs there!

Yes he's tucked, but look at his goofy back legs! Solon could jump, but why, when you can go through or around? That's for those dumb horses, 'cause it's a lot of work. Seriously though, you would love this place, tons of drafts and draft crosses, jumping and flat together over the same course, tons of beautiful Florida scenery and real water (huge lake, complete with gators). It's a long drive, I know, but bring him down here!

Wow sorry for the tough year. Here's to hoping the next year makes up for it and kicks ass!

The pony can jump if he wants to. I was shocked to hear that he cleared the gate that he had pushed over when it was lying on the ground.

Apparently the BO saw him at the end of the hallway and when she had come up to bring all the horses in. He saw her and she said, he knew he wasn't supposed to be out. He took off, she ran across the arena and out the other side of the barn just in time to see him run down the hill and fly over the gate that was on the ground. She said it was amazing. Then he stood there and waited for her to put his halter on and bring him in. Silly horse!

I don't know who would poop themselves first if they saw a gator, me or the pony!

That looks like a lot of fun!!! And yes, it's VERY gorgeous there! Great way to spend the day!!

Nope, officially he's an Irish Sporthorse, Percheron on top & Irish Sport on bottom. Mama is a grand prix horse, but he takes after his papa - that's what happens when you buy them young and not broke, it's a crap shoot. He's a ton of fun, but won't take home the big ribbons, no ambition.

Solon is hiding his jumping skills - typical perchie, talented with no motivation if it doesn't involve eating.

Boarshead farm is one of the gems that is left in Florida. Gorgeous thousand some acres used for farming and ultra-friendly to the hunts. If you go north, add slightly rolling hills to the picture.

This was a picture from the last time I went to the pace - in one of the smaller lakes.

Another hunter pace day today. I am lucky enough that someone is willing to take pictures, I can't ask that they be good pictures!

To be honest, you two look so absolutely gorgeous together I would have never even noticed your puppy paws!!! Beautiful pictures...very nice!!!

I rode Matty last Thursday at a cattle sorting event and introduced him to the cattle from outside the cattle pen that was placed inside a very large nice arena. I had puppy paws, again, lol but as soon as Matty got inside the arena and felt that soft arena ground he went into "INSTANT SHOW MODE" and it was on for at least an hour and a half. I did make him work on many yeilds and gaits...I know he looked gorgeous with all his moves!!!

I didn't know who was going to wear out first me or Matty...I think we finally wore out about the same time lol but I was having to hold him back soooo much I really had a tight rein and puppy paws BIG TIME. The punk even threw some bucking fits with me when he didn't want to do one thing but another...it takes alot more than that to get me off of him which he found out real quick then had to work even harder if that was even possible lol.

Since Erin was behind the camera and was supposed to get pic's and video of how Matty's actions/reactions and all that out there at a new arena and we planned for that before we got out there...Erin took three still shots and that was it!!! Needless to say Mommy Dearest is very upset about that because Matty picked up from his lazy normal calm disposition/attitude at home and completely turned into another horse we hadn't seen before we only the saw the tip of his competitiveness which was awesome!!!

Love your pic's they are so great and you're such a great rider!!! Watch those puppy paws but you know what you're doing no doubt!!!

Warmly, Stacy

We were there yesterday too! No pics cause we were trying to improve our time, but that coop to log line next to the chicken coop thing was one of our favorites. Did you jump through it bac

Ack, phone is acting up. I was saying... Did u jump through that line backwards for the pic? We ended up in 5th place, a little over 13 minutes off the time. Last time were were over 15 minutes over the time, so s little imrovement. Plus the horses were much less winded and recovered way faster, so they were obviously in much better shape.
I meant to shoot you a PM about it this week, but I'm farm sitting up in Alachua and between that, classes and trying to get the equestrian team organized I just lost track of time. Maybe we can catch up at the next one. I wish you could have seen Even though. You would have been amazed at how awesome he looks now. A hundred times better than when you met him.

Are you kidding? I just assumed that Even was back on this side of town. I would have definitely hooked up enough to see him; he has looked great in the pictures that I have seen. Let me know if you are planning on the next one.

And yes, we jumped back, but not for the picture, but for this.

He went down to a walk & then bunny jumped it - had to do it again. Plus, we were taking turns holding the pony & letting the other jump & take pictures. We took forever because of the pony, but the child, after a while, had a wonderful time. I think it was 3 hours, seriously. Tell Cheval how many drafts are there; huge perchies, belgians, clydes, etc.

Vacker, want to see the pictures! It's good for them to go into different environments & learn that they still have to work.

And the gators just give it the Florida flavor.

P & T,

Here are the three pic's but really not much to look at lol other than the first I'll post with Matty being introduced to the cattle. He side passed the entire way around the catch pen before getting to the sorting pen and facing off with the cattle. Actually, I was proud of him with the cattle he got calm and faced-off with a few I pointed him at. I can't say he "locked on" but I think he will do good once he is used to the new invironment. I had just mentioned that Matty didn't have much action in his hindquarters but he sure does when you get him in an arena like this and Erin didn't get any pic's of all the moves we were working on with LOTS of action.

Introducing him to cattle for the first time.

We were just troting around checking out the new environment but really had to keep ahold of him and you can see those puppy paws.

Matty actually stood still for a few seconds for this picture. Puppy paws again.

Yeah, I dropped him back off yesterday after the pace :(. I have pictures and videos from the whole summer that I'm eventually going to get put together on my laptop to post.

And yes, so many drafts!!! I saw several Perchies, a really gorgeous roan Clyde and two black ones, some Belgiany looking things and other obvious crosses. I felt bad because we passed at least 4 groups out on the trail and even trotting, some people had to stop and let their horses watch us go by because of the noise 2 draft crosses going down the trail makes! When we went through that one kind of bending line next to that big hog feeder, Even flew through it and jumped out really big, and there were two horses just up the trail that we couldn't see until we were coming out of it, and Even landing and galloping out of it definitely startled them. They were ok once they saw us, and the ladies thought it was funny, so it was fine. They said they were just talking about how much fun it must be to jump all those big jumps they kept passing :).

As long as I don't have a show or anything, I will definitely be at the next one. Do you know the date of it yet? My cousin and I are seriously in love with them! I wish I'd been able to start going to them years ago!

ETA: Just saw the date of the next one is 10/24. We have a show at Georgia Southern on the 23rd, but will be back that evening. My cousin who I go with will be in Colorado, so I will have to find someone else who will want to try and stay on pace to go with, but I have a few friends who have asked about it, so I will ost likely be able to make it.

P & T,

I thought of you many times and corrected my hands when I was working Matty so you have helped me alot to correct that but you can see not 100%. Thank you for bringing that to my attention and I am remembering your words many times and correcting myself.
