Every year the company I work for has two fundraisers (one in the spring - "Bark and Wine" and one in the fall - "Wag Your Tail it's Time for Ale" for one of our local area shelters, and another to benefit our state trooper K-9 unit). My job is the details - seems like all of them and for 2 months before all I do is event prep and advertising. Well after 2 months of chasing sponsors, advertising, designing, and fine tuning we had our event yesterday, Sept 18. It went very well and we had our biggest turn out yet!
Of course during this time I also had the added chaos of our main feature this year as well. 6 puppies were found in a dumpster and brought to where I work nearly 3 weeks ago. We actually only got 4 of the 6, as the apartment manager where they were found opted to keep two. They were in really bad shape and very young (4ish weeks old) with no mamma. So we had round the clock feedings, combated dehydration issues and a massive worm load that resulted in anemia, frequent vetting etc; I did have lots of help with the pups thank goodness. However now, the puppies are now nearly old enough to move on to permanent homes. Because of their story and the fact that we would start taking apps this weekend, they went to our event.
The draw on them was insane. We made the news twice. Once before the event and once during the event. I was very excited, and glad that I wasn't actually in the news story, but excited because of the recognition that the news coverage brought to our event and our cause. If anyone is interested I have attached the links to both news stories. I know I'm partial to this because of its closeness to my heart, but I just needed to share. Thank you! By the way, there are so many applications on these puppies finding them a great home should not be a huge problem either!

in the second story. The lady telling the story about how the rescue came to have the puppies and how they ended up at BFFE (where I work) is the director of the rescue. The lady holding the puppy and asking the little girl which one she loves is my boss. I am the go between between the rescue and work and am in charge of the fosters we have at work.
