If you had a horse that loved doing something, that they weren't the best at but they were good...

For instance I really like showing jumpers, and my paint is my mount for pony club and pony club only has jumpers.. But he is a good hunter and he loves it you can take him into a hunter ring and most of the time he is an angel and people love to watch him go around, but at the A shows we normally don't do as well because he has color and he is up against warmbloods and thoroughbreds that have been bred for this for years... Now I would love to take him to paint shows where he would win from local shows to world but paint shows are pricey... Selling him is not an option, and don't get me wrong I love showing Hunters, but what am I supposed to do with a jumper that refuses to go around anything but a hunter ring, and the rents don't feel it is worth the money to show the A shows like we love to if we are not placing....

If he's not happy doing jumping??? Can't you do local shows with him and DO hunters? Don't know how it is where you are but around here theres a couple local shows that have they're own circuit without being outrageously priced where you can sign up for points and get year end trophies, and some of them do OPEN show points for AQHA and APHA. My moms APHA mare has an ROM in Barrels/Poles just from going to open shows, she's never been to an actual APHA show. Check into it!

Now if YOU don't like doing hunters and you don't want to sell him I'd lease him out and buy ( if you can ) a horse that will just do jumping.
