YouTube - Nissan LEAF™: Polar Bear
I think electric cars are super cool. But this is the corniest commercial... and the shallowest, mushiest, corniest world view, I've ever seen articulated. Seriously, they could use this commercial as a tranquilizer in insane asylums.
I am dumber for having seen it.

Haha, that is ridiculous! My roommates and I talk about stupid commercials we've seen all the time. My one roommate has us all topped right now with a commercial for "Pajama Jeans"... I think I may be able to edge her out with this one... :)

Nissan Leaf: for people even more smug and self-congratulatory than the Prius people.

I just saw this on your facebook, I agree with you a hundred percent. Probably the top five worst commericals I have ever seen...by far.
I've never been a fan of the Prius...or the people that drive them either. I may be a bit biased though since I did get rear ended by one at 50 mph. :innocent:

wow... that is really weird. I liked the commerical until the last couple seconds of it, just because I love polar bears and nature...but that is messed up

Heh... it was an all-rant copied everywhere :)
Who doesn't love a polar bear.
But these people would have you believe that polar bears don't look forward to spring, and find melting ice floes a threat. In fact... they depend on it.
"Seeing its arctic home melting away, a lone polar bear sets out on a great journey to thank someone who is trying to help." It's bull. His arctic home melts like that every year, and if it didn't... we'd all be in big trouble!

So true. But, the majority of people, who don't have any idea about wildlife and the seasons, will believe it as fact.

I think electric cars are just as dumb as corn ethanol fuel. Produce electricity with coal(number one fuel used to generate electricity)so you can drive an electric car a hundred miles before you have to plug in again. Plain dumb.
And this commercial makes me want to barf.

I have thought in the past that electric cars were probably impractical. But I do think the impracticality is a temporary problem that technology and further innovation will solve. After having our little golf cart, the simplicity and quiet of them has a lot of appeal. I think they'd be a great city car.
Out here, electricity is hydro electric. Could be wind. Could be solar. Nothing wrong with electricity or electric cars. I think there's a future in it that's actually better than gas.
What bothers me is the people who actually think they deserve to be hugged by polar bears just for buying one. Because it makes them a better person. Because they've bought into the whole global warming scam. They need to be slapped. By a polar bear. :)

It's an emotionally appealing commercial.

I love polar bears, but I do think this commercial was a tad over the top.

Okay, the commercial is really cheesey and silly, but the polar bear is cute :)
I want a polar bear hug now! Oh wait...
...and then the bear ripped him in half and ate him.
