Hey all!

This is what I'm going to be doing this weekend. Trail Blazers Magazine is sponsoring an expo that's geared towards trail riders, and they're holding it in Santa Barbara, which means I'll be there because I live here.

There's going to be a trade show with vendors (mmm, so many good horsey things to look at) and clinics and demos with trainers like John Lyons and Linda Tellington-Jones. They're even going to have a big time trail class event at night called "The Battle of the Breeds."

I'm volunteering on Saturday, and have been assigned as a Battle of the Breeds helper for the children's competition that night. One of my barnmates got super lucky, and gets to volunteer as an assistant to Linda Tellington-Jones.

And the weather looks super good for the weekend. Upper 70s! Bliss!

And tonight, I went to the Battle of the Breeds tonight at the Trail Blazers Festival. I'm helping there tomorrow night which is the childrens' competition, so I figured it'd be super good to get a first hand look before I had to be down there helping. John Lyons and Linda Tellington-Jones were there riding Rocky Mountain Horses.

A Paso Fino won, a Quarter Horse took second, and a Peruvian Paso was third.

Sounds like a great event!! Take pictures if it's allowed!!! How is Santa Barbara??? What about the wildfires that are going on??? I have friends there and haven't been able to contact them....

Didn't have camera batteries tonight, but I will tomorrow (I hope ... they're recharging now)

The Tea Fire's still going. A barn mate of mine lost her house. What part of SB do your friends live in?

They live in Goleta....so a little ways away.....I will try again to see if they are on IM or skype.....

Oh, they're fine then. The fire's burning back up into the canyons above downtown SB and Montecitio. I live right belong Highway 154/San Marcos Pass, and we're out of the danger zone.

Goleta had their fire back in July, dubbed the Gap Fire. That one was lucky in that no homes were burned, although a lot of people had to evcuate including my pony.

Spent all day at the Trail Blazers Festival. Really really good day. Saw two clinics with John Lyons when he was working on getting the horse to sidepass and collect himself better. Very good stuff to watch.

And then a couple of clinics with Linda Tellington-Jones. I really learned a lot today, although it's kind of a bummer that I had to work yesterday and have other things planned tomorrow so I can't go see all the different demos and such, but well, today I volunteered, so I got to see it all for free.

And Equine Affaire Pomona is in January, so that's not too long from now. That should be lots of fun. I think I'm going with friends for at least 2 days.
