Some back door neighbors of mine have a pit bull mix that they cannot control and tonight the father told me "You want her? I'm sick of her." So, I'm putting some tendrils out there to see about some interest or suggestions.

She's young, but we're not sure how young. She was found on the high school football field last year. I'm guessing in the 1 1/2 -2 year range. She's spayed and UTD on shots. She does have some dog aggression, but I'm not sure what triggers it or why. She was fine with Misha, she got all snarly face with another dog -- I believe it was male. She lives in a house with small children. She won't stay in their yard, but they've only had her on runners, they don't seem to have a pen or a yard.

If he was serious about getting rid of her I'd like her to go to a home prepared to handle the responsibility of a pit bull. I'm going to look around to see if there are rescues that can take her or foster her, though I'd probably be able to foster her for a little bit.

ETA: I've sent emails to 5 rescues -- some local and some breed specific. One out of Raleigh looks promising if I'd foster her.

She's black with white spots (face and belly). I'd guess 22-20" at the shoulder, very leggy, but pit bull body -- not quite the pitty face, probably mixed with Lab. It was too dark to get photos of her.

So sad when people get a pet and then decide they just don't want it..... I'm glad you are helping this poor dog, I hope you can find a loving forever home for her. Any updates on her?

I've been working late, so I haven't seen them walking her, if they are. Two of the rescues emailed and said no room. She seems to get out most when all the kids are at home on the weekends. I suspect she'll get out this weekend. Problem is I can't take her unless there's a definite end date -- ie) she has another foster or adoptive home lined up.
