There must be something in the air tonight or at least I hope cause Niko was acting extremely odd. I went out to feed him Dinner and change his blanket. He came up to me like always and pat him on the forehead and then was going to get his other blanket and he took of bucking and running, not really like him. So I was like hmmmm ok? So I got his blanket and walked into his pen and he was still running and bucking... it's to slick out and he kept slipping and I didn't want him to fall but he just kept going. He stopped once and came up to me and then took off again one time he kicked out kinda close to me:nono:, of course that made me mad. So I finally caught him and put a halter on and made him yield his hind quarters and lunge a little bit. And then he was being calm so I took his halter off and was going to get his hay and then he wouldn't back up when I asked . So then I free lunged him and luckily he stayed on a small circle and not on the slick parts and made him trot for probably 10 min both direction and stopping and backing. Hopefully this was a one night thing... he was being a very bad pony. I couldn't believe he kicked out at me, that made me so mad.

He, he! Gypsy acts like that when it's cold and dry out- I think her arthritis bugs her less, and she's ready to kick up her heels, literally!
Kicking out close to a person is not acceptable, though. You're right- what a naughty pony! Hopefully, you got the point acroos to him that you're the herd leader, lol!

My boys tend to be that way right before it rains. They get all frisky and are running all around the field, bucking and spinning. They've never kicked out close to me but I've been very leary just waiting for it to happen.

you know anna acts exaclty like that when its cold outside. And yesterday was no exception I knew I shouldn't have ridden (on fact no one was even at the barn but me!) which is strange cause we have about 35+ boarders. But the ride ended out terrible and it was dissapointing so I'm actually really glad you posted this cause I thought I was the only one. Try again tommorow :) maybe the weather will be better.
