Well after yesterday I think I need to get some sheets for the horses and some type of blanket for Missy.
First, I spent almost 2 hours bathing and grooming Missy for the race yesterday. I let her dry off, before I turned her out, however, she decided to politely roll in the dustiest dirt she could find. By the time we went back out to load her up, she was a dust ball! so... I want to get a sheet to cover the horses for AFTER their baths.
NEXT... with the colder weather, I need to find a blanket to put on the horses AFTER their baths to help them dry and keep them warm. Yesterday was not a problem as we were in the 80's, however, I know there will be days I will have to bath them and it won't be so warm.
Any suggestions on what kind of blankets?? Poly fill amounts, cotton, nylon or canvas?????
Also... At the race Missy got REALLY nervous with the Carnival rides. :( So nervous that she was dripping wet like I had just given her a bath. So what type of blanket should I use on her after events??? I put a light weight fleece blanket on her after we were done, but not sure it was enough. Should I have her winter blanket with us in this type of situation??

A wool or woll blend cooler will work great for after the show and after baths. I would not go any heavier than a lightweight blanket unless the temps go below 40. Just my opinion. You can also use a sleazy for before the show to keep them clean overnight. I prefer the cooler when Katie runs and easter gets sweaty. It is also nice because I can throw it over the saddle to cool Easter off without untacking. Saves us time. If the weather is iffy I sometimes use a lightweight rain sheet to keep her dry and omfy. I think it is all a matter of opinion.

I use a wool cooler which you can pick up anywhere. As for blankets I purchased a bunch that was on sale at IFA for $20 each. They are a water repellent Med weight blanket that is good for those close to freezing and below nights.
I will add that I did not use any blankets last season (thank God) I only blanket on extreme weather conditions and the cooler is used on chilly days after a good workout.

you will need to get a cooler. I like wool or polar fleece. Don't put a heavy winter blanket on a wet horse. It traps the moisture in and can make your horse sick.

What's IFA, g?
It's a tack/feed store in her area. ;) Really nice place with super great prices on stuff.

I would go with a lightweight/unfilled turnout sheet, unless you really get cold there. That was you can toss it on after a bath and she won't be hot but will keep clean.
SStack is really good- all of my blankets are from there.

Thanks CG sometimes I don't make it back to threads:)
I wanted to add that IFA (Intermountain Farmers) has some awesome sales especially on horse blankets. Usually right before Christmas.
Their brand name blankets are very good quality and are usually priced normally at $45 (last years prices, don't know if they are the same prices now)

I'd go with a cooler too.
BTW I was looking thru horseloverz.com yesterday or the day before and was drooling over the prices on their sleezies. I have no need for one but have always wanted one lol and they're way cheap right now. So if anyone wants one of those go check it out!

I have a medium weight a sheet for Yogi and their turnouts. He has been getting the sheet at night I believe because we have had warmer days and it dips down a lot at night. I am pretty satisfied with them from SStack.com. He has a few holes, but he is hard on his blankets. I patched one place that would be a hole soon enough and need to patch a few more. Somehow he managed to rip holes on the inside, but anywho, they are good blankets at great prices. And you can get tape to fix the holes that match the blankets. I think a cooler would be best for events.
