Help preserve our tradition of saying “Merry Christmas” by sponsoring Project Merry Christmas in your church.
It's hard to believe that there are companies and individuals who want to ban "Merry Christmas" and replace it with "Holiday Greetings" because, they say, they don't want to offend anyone.
Christians can take a stand and proclaim to our communities that Christmas is not just a winter holiday focused on materialism, but a "holy day" when we celebrate the birth of our Savior. We can do it in a gentle and effective way by wearing the “It’s OK to say Merry Christmas” button.
Order yous today.

Most excellent idea! How about one that says "Keep Christ in Christmas".

My husband teaches 5th grade and a few yrs ago they got a memo about all the things they couldn't say like the Christmas Concert has to be called "The Winter Holiday Concert" or some such stupid thing now. The teachers still call it "The Christmas Concert". The list was long and it was insane. I can't even remember the things that were on there just remember you couldn't say "Christmas". That of course made my husband and some other to come up with their own lists of things which was pretty funny. Things are made so complicated so people are not insulted and they get insulted anyway. Everyone has a right to celebrate their holidays the way they want to and the fact is we celebrate Christmas so everyone else needs to get over it, it's called Christmas.
Nobody is asking those who don't celebrate it to celebrate it but they shouldn't ask those who do to call it a Winter Celebration or what ever they want it called.

If you want to read a book about Political Correctness gone bad, read The Giver by Lois Lowery. It is a Newberry Award winner and I read it as a preview and decided it definitely was not for younger children- late MS or HS .
And Happy Chrishannakawanza!!

I'm an atheist and say Merry Christmas. :hysterical: Nobody can make you stop saying anything you want to! Right? What about the oh-so loverly freedom of speech?! How can they ban saying anything, especially Merry Christmas? And those who are offended by it, I don't think we're offended when they say "Happy Holidays," or whatever. Say what you want. People (not you guys of course, lol) need to stop being such babies, they just want to bicker over something and they picked a stupid subject to do so.

Im going to say Merry Christmas, no matter what is politically correct, because I just don't care. If that offends someone, then they need help, lol. I have read some of the giver, it was a while ago, but it was a verrrry interesting book.

Agreed! Aha. That's like someone saying they're offended by the fact my favorite color is pink, instead of...well, whatever they like. =P

So sad we have to 'fight' to be able to continue to express our belief in God. Has anyone seen where the 'humanist' have purchased ads on the transit buses in NY I think (don't quote me on that) that say things like 'Why believe in God, just be good for goodness sake' and 'Theres probably no God anyway so live your life and have fun' I was in shock when I saw that on the news. I weep for our society everyday.

Ditto gaited!
I just found out a couple days ago that they've changed Christmas Break at my school to Holiday Break. I'm waiting for the day when we don't have Christmas or Easter Break at all.

While I agree with the sentiment here, it IS silly for stores to label trees as "Holiday Trees" when it is a Christmas Tree, I really have no problem with the term "Happy Holidays" or "Season's Greetings". They've been around a lot longer than political correctness, and I've always taken to mean well wishes for the whole Holiday Season, from Thanksgiving through Christmas and the New Year, and including Hannukkah and Kwanza or whatever people celebrate.
And I have usually ended up arguing AGAINST people who want to get mad at stores and yell at the poor clerks working there for having the audacity to say "Happy Holidays" to them.
Sheesh.... Lighten up.... be nice to people for goodness sakes. That's the fun part of this 'season', or used to be. I call them the Christmas Nazis.

Ok, so here is what you do. If you see a Holiday Tree sale, you walk up to a worker ask them if they know where to buy a Christmas Tree. When you hear Happy Holiday, say, which one, see what they say.
Oh and by the way
MERRY CHRISTMAS

But is it also OK to not say Christmas?
I think both extremes are silly... both banning the use of the word, and getting bent out of shape at those who freely choose to use the word 'Holiday' instead.
Festivus for the rest of us! :D

"people who want to get mad at stores and yell at the poor clerks working there for having the audacity to say "Happy Holidays" to them."
Let them say whatever they want to say, or have to say, my reply is always "Merry Christmas".

There used to be a time when Merry Christmas was said by the store clerks, ect. Today though, they are not allowed to say it, well, what I find down here anyway. I think the reason why people get mad, is, cause our freedom is being taken away. IF someone had the choice to tell me Merry Christmas or Happy Holiday, then I would just say Merry Christmas back, but some dont have a choice, cause of where they work.
I dont get mad at the people, its their job. I just shake my head, and say Merry Christmas. I think Ill rebel with a big ole sweater this yr, that says, Merry Christmas, not like they can kick me out the store ya know...lol

Both sides of this are so prickly, it's not an easy mine field for any lone store clerk to navigate. I just wish them well. :)

My friend works in a food pantry and some lady came in last year before Christmas to get items and my friend who is always bubbly and friendly told her to have a Merry Christmas. The lady went off on her, yelling at her for saying Merry Christmas and just went on and on.
My friend then told the lady through gritted teeth that Christmas it coming, she celebrates Christmas and she will say Merry Christmas to anyone she feels like saying Merry Christmas to! I mean really, if the lady doesn't celebrate Christmas she could have said in a nice way that she doesn't celebrate and I'm sure my friend would have told her she's sorry and hopes she has a nice holiday no matter what she celebrates. Since the lady started screaming at her well then my friend got really mad. As bubbly as she is she has a temper....lucky the lady still has a head and Lynny didn't rip it off!!!!!!!!
I get so tired of being politically correct. I worked in an office back in the '70's. I worked with a bunch of guys, we used to get quite rowdy, I imagine if the things that were done and said in fun back then were done now we'd all have harassments suits filed against us. OH WELL.

I find that really silly. I'm also an atheist like Caitlin, but I say Merry Christmas. I do celebrate Christmas, but not the Jesusy part of it. I celebrate the time of the year, giving, family, enjoying life etc. I think it's just stupid to walk around on eggshells pretending we are all non-religious to try to spare each others' feelings. I say, if you're a Christian, you're Jewish, atheist, Pagan, Hindu, whatever... Flaunt it! Be proud of your religion and go ahead and say whatever "season greeting" you want. I think we should all have enough respect for each other where someone can say "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Hanukkah" and we can take it as a compliment! I mean, come on the person is wishing you well being, in whatever religious form that is, it's a GOOD thing! People tell me "God bless" and I'll just say "thank you." I don't think to myself, "whatever I don't have a god you stupid person....." I just think "Oh that person is wishing me well. How thoughtful."
Blah. Rant over :D

But wise men still seek him.
Some leaders of men and governments and and nations
fear the little baby in the manger
who died on a cross so many years ago.
Perhap the days of believe what you will and
say what you want are going bye- bye?

I don't care what you say - it's the thought that counts. :) I've had friends from every major (and a few minor) religious perspectives and we've all said Merry Christmas to one another. It's the few that ruin it for the many.
 Merry Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight.
