Yay! Fresh eggs! Makes me miss having chickens.

I wouldn't be able to have them very easily around here, though- not with my skunk!

Congrats!

With all of the dragcave stuff going on in the different forums, I was expecting a different type of egg. LOL.

I miss having the kids hunt for chicken eggs in the mornings while I feed. I almost wish I'd brought the chickens with us, but most of the ones left were roosters anyway so I just gave them away. Ah well! Maybe sometime I'll get chickens again.

OOOOOHH, nothing like a fresh chicken egg. I have a few chickens too. Oh and one duck. Her eggs are great in baking. The yokes are thick and rich.. They make the best cakes, brownies, and panckes you ever had!

That's so awesome! I still have another month before my chickies will be laying. I don't do anything with the eggs, but it's just nice to see them grow up.

Hey! You have turkens! I've never met anyone else who's had a turken, much less know what they are.

I have 2 turkens:D
They are definetly my fav.
Amazing personalities,, and so fun to show non- chicken people pictures of.
The response I usually get is "What is wrong with that chicken?"

I want to get chickens but hubby is against it. I know I'll wear him down eventually!:innocent: What are the best chickens to get for laying eggs? Do they tolerate cold weather? We have a little barn that we are not using and I was going to set them up there. It's next to a swimming pool that we have, though. Are they really smelly?

I've found the best layers are the bard rocks and the Rhode Island reds. I had my chickens in Alaska, so if they can take our winters they can certainly take the winters of PA. As long as they have somewhere to get out of the weather they'll be fine. They're not really smelly, but they are birds so they certainly don't smell like roses. ;)
