I like the Giants, even last year in the beginning of the season when my husband kept telling me what losers they were and how their season was over and of course how Eli Manning was terrible. I kept reminding him that brother Peyton didn't exactly set the world on fire his first couple of years and to have some faith. Wow did they ever come alive and stun football fans ! I have never liked or disliked the Jets, but they may have something this year, if they can hold it all together.
I also like the Redskins and Green Bay. Not too fond of the Cowboys or the Pats.

I have no reason to do anything near liking the Bears. My son on the other hand has some Bear's clothing. I don't know where I went wrong with him. He's still a Vikes fan but what's up with the Bears kid? My daughter is a big Vikes fan as she took to the upbringing much better I guess. She has beaten her husband more than once in their fantasy football league. :)

So we can agree to be big rivals on one side but dislike the Bears together on the other. I think I might still like you despite your obvious football flaws.

Have a great day Doc!!!!:cowboy:

After 26 years of cheering for the same old team & being a faithful fan, I think I'm ready to spit in their faces after last sundays game against the Ravens!! Can you guess who my TEAM is... Yep, Eagles. In my opinion, Andy Reed needs to go along with his Q-back McNabb. I was ready to spit fire that day, I just had to turn off the TV, I could feel my blood pressure rising. McNabb, known for his choking ablities. REED, known for his POS skills. He needs to retire!!**okay off my Soap BOX**

I gave up this year caring what ranking they were in.

We were doing so good, and then with the Refs giving them the game, and then letting them get everything in the 4th quarter, we didn't stand a chance.
There were several calls that should've been and shouldn't have been called that were. I get so sick of trying to fight the refs every week. They are suppose to be the Pros too, so much for that.

And I couldn't watch it because it was on the NFL Network, and on top of all that, we can't watch next week's game cause the stupid pussycat panthers will be on the same time, and with the NFL's stupid rules, we can't watch anything but the pussycats since they are our "home" team though I don't claim them as that.

PICKED_OFF!!! Here we go Patriots

Gotta hand it to them, they did good. Arizona just wasn't doing so "hot" (pun initally not intended, but is now. :hysterical: Lol). They just didn't seem to have the pazazz I saw earlier in a game this season. Can't remember who it was they were playing in that game though. lol :p Me and my bad memory.

Yea, the Packers have been out of it for a few weeks now. It would have been nice to spoil the hated Bears chance! They still need another win and a Vikings loss to make the playoffs or if they both win the Bears can get in with a Tampa & Dallas loss I think. Playoff scenarios get so complicated!

Yeppers, last I heard they were.

Cowboys needed the Buccs or Flacons to loose one of their last two games, and we need to win against Philly this Sunday. The Buccs lost this past Sunday, so looks like if we can win Sunday we will have squeaked in.

My dad said he thought it was the Packers we'd rather have had win out of them and the Bears. So I was rootin' for the Packers more, but not much. lol I didn't really care out of the two.

Nope, nothing thrills my soul more then to see my team loose so badly, and know I won't get to see Romeo till next year. Oh and to add to that now Benworthlessweiner :hysterical: got hurt. Not that I really like someone getting hurt, but I can't stand the Steelers. Lol :p

I hate how the game went! It was awful the way we got killed. I don't know what went wrong, besides everything. I better leave it at that 'for I get anymore upset. It really bothers me to know end. Sad to say we won't get to see him till next August.
I'm so sick of the Media saying he can't win games in December or the playoffs. The way I see it Dallas hasn't been able to do that since like '97 I think. So It's not JUST Romo's faught. Dallas is a team, and when they play it's the teams efforts, not just Romo or Witten or Owens or anyone else, but all of them. You can't place the blame on solely one person. There's so many if's. If this person would've done this right and that one would've done this right.
Oh well, my sister got me a Romeo book for Christmas, so I can look at his pictures 'till Pre-Season starts. Maybe next year will be our killer year!!

Sorry your team took it on the chin so hard. Sorry for you but not your team :p. Many would agree with you about next year but it seems to many that the socks this year belonged to Jessica Simpson and Tony boy might need to change to some other socks for next year! :)

I love the nicknames you have for players, especially big Ben. Do you have any other good ones? Thanks for the chuckles.:cowboy:

pandorasmom
12-29-2008, 01:46 PM
Thanks, I'm sorry to! I personally didn't think Romeo was all over Jessica especially this year. I haven't heard much about Jessica all season, and I've been grateful. I thought they'd broken up anyways. She's not right for him. A good ol' boy like himself who roughhouses with the guys and just hangs out doesn't need a CHB (California Hollywood Brat). Oh well, regardless, I think it's (winning to go to playoffs) just not meant to be honestly. Not yet. I have my own idea about that though and figure y'all would appreciate me keeping it to myself. lol :p

Just name them nicknames as we see 'em, so don't remember exactly it all. My sister calls Big Ben, Worthlessburger, so I decided to come up with my own and it be Ben Worthlessweiny.

I know we have called Brett Farve, Brett Fart before. Can't recall any other names right now, but I'm sure more will come to me. We say that Eli Manning's (and Tom Brady's) ego is too big for the football field, and that the Giants coach needs to go to a rest home, but that's about it. I know it's not nice of me, but I get a kick out of it.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Ravens running back Willis McGahee (http://www.nfl.com/players/willismcgahee/profile?id=MCG001995) is expected to make a "complete recovery" from a fierce helmet-to-helmet hit in the AFC Championship Game (http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/recap?game_id=54463&displayPage=tab_recap&season=2008&week=POST20) that saw him carted off the field.
McGahee returned to his Baltimore home Monday after spending the night in a Pittsburgh hospital recovering from Sunday's collision with Steelers safety Ryan Clark (http://www.nfl.com/players/ryanclark/profile?id=CLA544413).

The play occurred in the fourth quarter of Pittsburgh's 23-14 victory (http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter?game_id=54464&season=2008&displayPage=tab_gamecenter), and McGahee was carted from the field on a stretcher.
"It is expected that Willis will have a complete recovery from the head and neck injuries he suffered last night," Ravens spokesman Kevin Byrne said Monday.
Although McGahee had significant neck pain, he had movement in his arms and legs after the hit. He was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital and held overnight for observation. He was released early Monday morning and back home by early afternoon.
McGahee had just caught a pass and taken two steps before being met by Clark, who drove his helmet into McGahee's facemask. McGahee's head snapped back, and he lost the ball as he dropped to the ground.
Clark also collapsed, though it was immediately apparent that his injury wasn't serious.
Players from both teams gathered around McGahee, who lay motionless before being taken away.
"I started getting a little emotional when I saw him down there and the cart was coming out. That's the nature of this rivalry," Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (http://www.nfl.com/players/benroethlisberger/profile?id=ROE750381) said after the game.
Starting at tailback in place of the banged up Le'Ron McClain (http://www.nfl.com/players/le'ronmcclain/profile?id=MCC333237), McGahee ran for 60 yards and two touchdowns.

I'll see if I can squeeze in some riding time. Maybe later this year, in the spring, my friends across the hollar will want to ride some. She mentioned it back in November or December, so I can hope.

I missed football this past Sunday too. :( I WANT FOOTBALL!!!!! Watching the older college games they have on is good, but not as good as actual football, and especially NFL football. I also got a ride in, it was fun.

Can't wait for this Sunday! I get to see "my" Warner!!

Refs had some HORRIBLE calls!!!! Fitz had an amazing touchdown, like always, but we left too much time on the clock. We had over 100 yards in penalties!!! COME ON GUYS!

But hey, we made it to the championship, and that is farther than anyone ever thought we could!

GO CARDS!

Refs had awful calls, and half of the penalties called against the Cards shouldn't have been called. Next, they didn't call half the plays they should have on the Steelers. It really gets me when the refs give the game away. Sure the Steelers won, but by way of the refs giving it to them. The Cardinals faught and did the best they could. In my mind they are the true winners! Sure there were mistakes, by BOTH teams. Not just one. Every game has mistakes that you can't do anything about. However, if the refs give you the game, you can sure count on winning. Way to win with the game being givin' to you Steelers!!

92-Harrison on the Steelers, should've gotten his butt kicked out of the game when he got the unnecessary roughness call. He should have NEVER did that, and should've been ejected immediately.

I say for an underdog team who was considered one of the worst playoff winners in history, and for this to be their first time going to the Super Bowl, they are the TRUE winners.

Way to go Cardinals! You tried your best, and that's all that matters. You atleast faught for it on your own while playing 2 teams, the refs and the Steelers.

We tried, and tried hard, but I walked out of Church with my head held low. I was so hoping they would win. I thought they had it at 230 min left in the game. Man, we were jumping up and down,,,,lost sound for a min cause of it...lol. Had a good time though, good food, good company, good game.

Heard this morning on espn, There's even one of their football intelligent guys who said the refs should've reviewed the last play as well as given a celebration on I think Holmes when he was shaking the dust or whatever. Refs really were stupid.

I was cheering for the Cards and like you said there were calls missed but you can't blame the loss on the referees. The Cards had two good goal line stands back to back on one drive and couldn't stop the Steelers on the last drive. How many guys couldn't tackle Harrison on the interception for a touchdown? There were several times that if the Cardinals had made a good play the outcome would have different.

I listen to a lot of sports radio and they discussed the last play and said that it was looked at by the replay officials. They just didn't delay play to look longer. The league commissioner has also commented that he believes it was called correctly.

My problem is this isn't just A game this is THE game, it's the Super Bowl. When in doubt replay it several times to make sure it's right.
Skip (the one I heard on ESPN) normally is against everybody (especially the Cowboys), but he said himself he thinks the refs should've gotten those two calls right. He said if they would've gotten that celebration penalty with the dust that would've given the Cards 15 yds., and if they would've given a celebration penalty to the guy who took his helmet off early, they would've gained a total of 30 yds. Then they would've been around the 15 yd. line and had a opportunity. Please understand that by NO means am I saying that it should've came down to this. It shouldn't have. But IMO there were bad plays on both teams.
Even Skip said if the refs would've gotten the calls right there was nothing for sure the Cards would've won, but they would have atleast had a OPPORTUNITY to comeback after fighting like they did. Not to say they WOULD'VE came back, but could've. That's my whole point.
Thing is, that very last call should've been an incomplete pass, NOT a fumble. It's clearly seen he was having forward motion with it. If you pick up a pen and try to throw it across the room, you can see the forward momentum it has. However, if you accidentally drop it (aka fumble it) then it's not going to be flying through the air or attempting to, it will drop to the ground and may bounce. Sure this is a pen, but even if you got a football and tried it throwing a ball and fumbling it are two different scenarios. This was clearly a try at passing(throwing) the ball, and was not a fumble. I know it does not good to say all this now because it's final. However, The refs should've been VERY careful on what was called, if in no other game (since they normally don't pay attention or call correct calls in regular season), they should've on THE game of the year.
IMO the refs make stupid calls all the time, and not just on my team either. I've seen it numerous times, on different teams. If they can't make better calls then that, let's get someone who can. It's unfair!
In the playoff game between Cards and Eagles, the Eagles guy purposely charged after and tried to run over Warner. Unnecessary roughness IMO, but for some STRANGE reason the refs didn't see that.
Last night, when we got a call for "roughing' the passer" and then the one "running into the holder" (or whatever the tech terms are) they were both uncalled for. When the call was called for roughin' Ben, Ben had just released the ball and the guy was already heading for him. When your dodging for someone in mid air you can't just STOP on a dime. The play of "running into the holder" was the same way. The guy didn't intentially run into him. If I'm not mistaken he was tripped by another player and couldn't regain himself before hitting the holder. It wasn't intential!
But if your a ref, and your wanting the Steelers to win, by all means call the plays for them. Who wouldn't? It's suppose to be that the refs aren't partial, but in my eyes, I believe that, like I believe someone has an oceanfront property in Arizona for me.

How do you stop a 200lb guy whose running and tripping and having absolutely NO control over his body before he hit that dude?! REALLY?! I'd like to see the refs reenact what happened..

Exactly! There should've been no score, but what happened happened and the Steelers guys were helping block while he was running up the field with Cards chasing him.

The roughness calls being bogus, agreed!

They never see the one that is on the other team. There was one guy who ran into Warner after he released the ball and it knocked him down if I'm not mistaken, I heard no unnecessary roughness calls on that?

It's hard to stop yourself after your flying through the air. The only thing that stops you is the ground, or someone. LOL He didn't mean to hit the holder. If they would've focused more on OVERALL calls instead of just the Cards. I mean come on, it was obvious who they wanted to win.

Unless it's been changed within the last couple years, I believe the defender has two steps before they hit the QB before it's a flag. I counted, and he was only one step away from the QB when Ben released the ball. What I don't understand is the fact that Ben was running around and had been out of the pocket. I think that makes him free game but I may be behind on the rule changes. They sure do love to protect that QB.

However, just because you didn't "intentially run into them" is not an excuse. Especially with the guy running into the guy holding the ball for the kicker. The kicker and the holder are completely off limits unless the defender blocks the ball. That Cards player KNEW better and he didn't just barely touch him, he PLOWED him over. Being tripped, isn't an excuse. You have to have control of your body. That was just a stupid mistake by the Cards. The roughing the passer was iffy but the call with the holder was right on.

And you probably wouldn't know it but I was cheering for the Cards myself!! I was so excited when they got the safety and then the TD to pull ahead. Blew my mind!!! And then was so disappointed when the Steelers scored with only seconds left. That last catch was dead on though. The guy had both toes down when he caught the ball. An amazing catch but I think they called it correctly. And they did review that call too. It was just clearly a catch.

Being a coach, and having relatives that referee and BEG me to ref too, I try to be nice to referees. That's not saying I don't "work them" in a game :p but you know.. they're human. They make mistakes. Even at the professional level. There were numerous STUPID mistakes made by professional football players on both sides. Why do we expect the referees to be perfect?

Okay let's see here, if we're talking about control of your body. Sure, you have control of your body, to an extent. Kinda like today when I got thrown over my horse's head, I had control of myself only to a point when I'm sailing thru the air and then I can not stop, Period!
When your tripped you can't get full "control of your body" to not hit the holder, depending on where you are. Obviously if he was 6 miles back (exaggerating here) and would've ran into the holder, I can see that. But it didn't appear at all intential. He tripped for heaven's sake! I myself tripped today over something and sure I was able to control myself but I did go forward some. When your throwing 200 lbs (or whatever the guy weighed) in the air by tripping, ya can't stop on a dime.

Secondly, Holmes appeared to have 1 foot down and the other toe down. I'm still not convinced he was fully in. Review or not, you can see what you want in review.

I don't expect the refs to be perfect, I expect them to be fair. And I think I mentiond that the football players on both sides made mistakes. I'm not asking anyone to be perfect.

Regardless, I guess what's done is done. Though to the day I die will say it was unfair and calls were made and not made that weren't fair.
