Just thought you would like a Duke update. He is almost 6 months old and weighed in yesterday at 45 lbs! He also spent last night loose locked in our room to see how he would do over night. I am proud to report that he did GREAT! He was a little confused at first, wanted to play and be active instead of sleeping but then he figured out that it was bed time. I brought in his sleep toy (stuffed turtle) and one of the ropes so he had something to chew on instead of shoes and furnature. He chewed on the rope and snuggled with his turtle and best of all, he had NO ACCIDENTS!!! He's been making through the night for months now but that was in the crate. Our room is much bigger and he could have gone in the corner or something but he held it all night!

And now pictures from this morning:

The money shot!

Oh and if you guys can see in the pictures the dogs got new collars for Christmas (early). TJ finally quit chewing his off and Duke is finally big enough for a big boy collar.

I hate it when Duke hits a growth spurt though. He gets all leggy, which is cute and gaingly looking, but he gets a little ribby too. I had to up his puppy food, he's now eating as much as TJ! He's not filling out yet but he's gaining weight as well as size and I know he'll catch up again after his spurt. The vet says he's in good condition/shape and that pups that aren't being over fed do that sometimes and so long as I am watching him and adjusting his feed accordingly it's all good. As much as he eats in food and treats I'm surprised he isn't fat! hahaha! He's just really active and burns it off.

He's growing so fast!

Awe, they are both so cute! What breed are they?
My puppies are 10 weeks old today and weighing in at 18+ pounds already with huge paws. Wonder how big they'll be at 6 months!

TJ is Great Pyreneese/Yellow Lab mix and Duke is Greater Swiss Mountain Dog/German Shepherd mix. I worry about his weight constantly. When the old man was growing up his vet told me that I needed to make sure that I not over feed him and put to much pressure on his joints and hips, since they were already bad it would make them worse. Dukes joints/hips seem to be just fine and I want to keep them there! hahaha!I I guess since the vet says he's a good weight I should quit worrying about it.
