Yes, Paul Williamson is a great guy. (from what I can tell on the net) It's not something for everyone but it is a lot like laying a horse down. I haven't seen the files on how to do it but think it has something to do with a rigid girth and turning the head. It's just another way to humble a horse who is too sure of themselves.

I like the guy - look him up on youtube... - Endospink - Australian trainer training racehorses in Japan.
He's got Moxie  - He signed up here - or was it still back at horse.com? ...when we were discussing him, way back when.

Never heard of it or him.
Anyone have a link?
I think he's a good hand. Has probably saved a lot of horses from the 'glue factory.' Yep. He was on here for a bit.

Just watched that video mare, or at least tried to... had to click play/pause over and over again because just play would skip so bad I was missing captions. So did he actually deal with the rear or just ride it out? Was that the tap method? What's the tap method. I'm all kinds of confused.
I'd like to see how to deal with rearing. I haven't had much experience with it, knock on wood. Gem has popped up a little in the front a few times but was told very firmly with a smack to the head and harsh words that that is NOT OK.

Sorry the video didn't work for you. He has 71, I think, on youtube. You can search for endospink on there. He also has, or had, a site "Hybrid Horsemanship." I the video I linked he rode the rearing (in an exercise saddle without using stirrups, I might add). That was the first of several videos with that horse.
The most startling thing about him seems to be when he "lays a horse down." He uses it only on very obstinate horses. It can be down simply by pulling one rein to bring the horse off balance. It can be done very roughly, or, as this fella does it, very smoothly with great timing. It brings a nice change of attitude when used on horses that need it.

The tap is in this video:

He doesn't show HOW to do it, you have to buy it from him (which I don't blame him) and it shouldn't be used by someone who isn't an experienced trainer. It's different than just laying a horse down, a lot different, but it results in the same brain change. .

He's some PHENOMENAL rider. What I like too is he's a good example to others...wears a safety vest and helmet...I'd like to see other trainers start setting an example.
I couldn't hear the tap video but it sure is interesting...I learn more about him on his site.
