It's just around the corner and Steve (my SO) and I are heading to Connecticut for Thanksgiving. I just got the call that I'm in charge of the cranberry sauce and an appetizer. I hope I don't mess it up hahah I've never made cranberry sauce! So it had me thinking..."Where's the recipe post for thanksgiving!?" I'm sure everyone has something special so lets share them! :) ENJOY

My family's cranberry sauce recipe:
Go to Wal-Mart.
Go down canned foods aisle.
Pick favorite brand of Cranberry Sauce.

hahahh I was thinking I wanted to do that so bad but his family (particularly his grandma -who reminds me of mrs. claus- is the craftiest (is that a word) person on earth and I cant imagine bringing canned cranberry sauce to her home for thanksgiving hahaha)
I found this one that sounds pretty good to me.
This is the best cranberry sauce I have ever had...
1-1/2 C sugar
1 navel orange
1/2 t grated ginger
4 C cranberries
1/2 C (2 oz.) toasted pecans
Grate the orange peel and add to a pot with the sugar and ginger.
Add the juice from the orange into the pot and simmer over
medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.
Add cranberries and cook until they pop - about 5 minutes.
Add pecans and cool sauce.

Pecans and orange peel and ginger?! That sounds delicious! I'm going to save that recipe!
I live alone and don't have any family or anyone to invite over....so I never cook.....bummer. I may go out to eat tho, or perhaps over to a friend's for Thanksgiving.

OOOO suggestion for desert. Pumpkin Squares ~ very easy to make & very yummy... I made some the other day because it sounded so good.
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon gorund cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
4 eggs
1 (16-oz) can pumpkin
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat a 9x13 pan with nonstick cooking spray.
2. In large bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cinnnamon & nutmeg; mix well & sit aside.
3. In another large bowl, beat together the rmaining ingredients. Gradually add the flour mixture to the pumpkin mixture; beat well then pour batter into the baking dish.
4. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a wooden toothpick insearted in the center comes out clean. Let cool completely then cut into squares.
Enjoy. After I ate the above squares (all of them) I realized that some type of cream cheese icing would of been yummy on them too.
