Long and very interesting life she had.
I'd have to think about it... but she may have been the last of the old time movie stars.

National Velvet is one of my favorite movies. I was reading about her, I didn't know she had such a tumultous personal life.

Natonal Velvet and Lassie Come Home are the 2 I most remember. She will live on with her movies.

Too bad, she should have lived longer than that. I wish she could have worked things out with Richard Burton...I think he was the love of her life.

That's so sad. She was an amazing person. I just watched National Velvet a few days ago. WB, I know Mickey Rooney is still alive. He's my all time favorite actor :)
Men
Just seven husbands. Or maybe 6, but Richard Burton twice.
I don't like seeing that generation go at all. They lived through so many huge historical events. I worry that we will soon have no one to remind us how tough people used to be.
I think Liz Taylor was proud to be considered a "broad", as her husband, Richard Burton called her. I'll bet she was fun.
Godspeed, Elizabeth.

I watched National Velvet at least once a week or more growing up. She was fabulous in it.
And your mentioning Micky Rooney reminded me of the White Stallion.

I did too.
My favorite horse movies growing up were Black Beauty, The Black Stallion and National Velvet. I'd watch them at least once a week. I used to put strings on my toes like Elizabeth Taylor in National Velvet and pretend I was riding a horse, too :)
Movie star...
