It just doesn't feel quite right when I call her that......
Don't shoot me. lol. But I am not liking the name "Ness", it is a shortened version of the name her breeder gave her (Baroness). It may take me a lifetime ( hope not tho), but I'll figure out a name yet....I am going back to my old list, there are a couple on there that pop back into my mind yet...... :innocent:

I know.....AGAIN. I just can't make up my mind.....really, I almost always think up a name just like THAT too. Maybe it's old age?! lol. Anyway....for some reason I have a more difficult time naming females than I do males....geez. Well, right now I am tossing around the name Mocha.....if I ever registered her (doubtful, because at her age it'd cost an arm and a leg) I was thinkin' "Frosted Mocha", sort of playing on her color....
I know.....I'm nuts! ha....

hahaha I can't sympathize someone simply said well if you name her "anna" it'll end up being "anna banana" and I thought Anna! I'm sold.
When it comes you just KNOW.
I never questioned it and I'm glad I didn't its perfecto
so keep thinking

I'm the type that dosen't "try" to name my animals. I just call them boy, girl, Mr, old lady etc. (My mare is btw affectionately nick named "Old Lady". It really confuses people when I say I'm gonna take my "Old Lady" out for a ride.)
They get generic labels until one just clicks. Like my Houdini appy, (who wasn't Houdini until only a year-and-a-half ago) but who was a major pill to handle as a baby. Someone called him a pill one day while I was trying to clip his muzzle and I said "Lady, this ones a whole box of pills" Hence, Pillbox, aka Box, aka Boxy.
It's funny that you have a mare named Ness. I had one, old ranch cowhorse from Montana, that came through the place while we were in Los Angeles. (She was our horse haulers) Unless you rode that mare into the ground on an almost daily basis she was just a mean old nasty serpent of a mare. Long neck, long back, tiny head. Loch Ness monster. Nessie, ness, were just easier.
On edit, I don't re-name horses. They say it's bad luck. "Nessie" never had a name, which is probably why she was so onery.

;) just spend a little more time with her and she will tell you :) mares have a way of letting you know.

What is her full name again? Barroness?
Remali

Yes, her breeders named her Baroness.....but I just can't warm up to the name, and she doesn't look like a Baroness.
I do like Mocha yet...... hmmm......

Sena
For some reason I like that name AND as a bonus, it's spelled from letters with her old name.

I've sat down and made a list even (while I watched TV).....so far nothing is quite "right".....yet! lol.
Sena is pretty, but a very close friend has a daughter whose name is similar....hmmmm....

I like Sena, but I have a mare with that name too although it is spelled Signe(my Scandinavian roots). I too struggle with naming pets but it does just eventually show up!

Sable is my dog's name!!! She's the only animal that I truly believe told me her name. Cause the moment I knew she was going to stay with me I said, come on Sable, lets go. And she came to me instantly.

lol something a bit funny that might inspire you. My current trainer just chaged her horses name and she's had him for about 3 years. He still comes to the new name they know your voice not your name
now it takes me and the other barn managers a while to get use to calling him that
haha but thats it. :)

What about the name "Remali?"
Remali
11-19-2008, 09:02 AM
Well, at least she hasn't been handled much before I got her and she doesn't know her name at all......lol.
So far my list is reeeeeeally small.....it is Sable; Mocha; Sierra; and Callie. I'm going to keep plugging away on names for a bit.
