View Full Version : Thrift Store for the Win!

Clearly, the thrift store does not have someone there who knows tack. Not to mention that the thrift store does not usually get saddles, or the fact that I went in there on a whim today to kill time.

I ended up finding a real good find.

The last english saddle I used on Jet was the Bates Isabell Werth dressage. Really nice saddle, really pricey saddle ... but I just didn't feel comfortable in it. I'm not sure what it was, I just couldn't feel like I sat right in it at all. So I was planning to stick with western saddles, and thought I'd found the one for Jet. Guess not. And since I'm going to have to shop around a little more, I'm going to need something to ride Jet in in the meantime. She is not comfortable with me on her bareback, she just doesn't have the back for it.

So I'm really happy with this little find. Gonna try it tomorrow. Should fit her all right since it looks narrow. If not, I know someone who has the gullets.

Oh, and the price. Let's just say between $30-50.

Geez! I have that same exact saddle LOVE it. I got what I thought was a steal on ebay for $200, free shipping and the other gullets. I can't believe you got it for that little! Lucky! Lucky! Lucky!

Lucky me! I totally deserved a break today.

It's a nice saddle, in great shape, and came without fittings, but that's cool cause I got lots of english stuff still.

I think it'll do nicely until I get the whole western thing sorted out. My hope is, I can build up Jet's topline better before I go shopping again. I've been working on a lot of exercises to help with that, including doing hills and trot poles, but I need a saddle to do it in.

Lucked out. Totally.

And the best part is ...

... IT FITS!

So I know I have a saddle to use for now. Gives me time to figure out what to do with the Tex Tan, and then go from there.

Hey Flair! Your luck must have rubbed off on me! Did you see my post? I just found one of those really expensive Parelli Bareback Pads ($264 new) for $30 at a tack swap! It was in new condition too. :D You are good luck! hehehehe...
