Alright. Does anyone out there know anything about the CorrecTOR pad? I'm considering getting one but the crazy website (like a fanatic), high price, and no return policy are keeping me from making the purchase!

My saddle fits Tav for the most part but he has a pretty significant divot behind his shoulder blades. The pad I bought to help fit was a Reverse Wedge by Cashel (it's what he was trained in) but now it's pushing the saddle too much onto his back end and of course he's sore from it. I've tried the ortho pro choice on him and it just doesn't seem like enough padding all around for him.

I've considered the SKito but it looks to me like the shims are too far forward and would interfere with his shoulders?

Anyways, does anyone else know of any magic padding system I haven't heard of that doesn't cost 400 for the pad? I'd like to have something I can adjust as he builds muscle and grows up. . . I'm hoping he doesn't stay a skinny shouldered, broad hipped 3 year old forever!

Gives us a link. Not familiar with it.... it's a shim system or ???

What about taking two felt pads... even a new and and an old one, and cutting layers of felt from the old one to make exactly the shims you want? Sew them to the new one. If you want just the right shape and thickness, it's going to be hard to find exactly the right one, commercially made.

I'm almost convinced he has people trolling the net giving recommendations on forums. I can't find anything really bad about the pads. . . but every review of them is in detail from someone new to the forum I'm reading the review on. ..

I've considered making my own (in fact Robert is making his own pads right now because he just can't find the right pad) I'm just not that creative I don't think!!

Heh.... he might!

His web site design is terrible. I tried to find a real description of what the thing is... but it's quite the treasure hunt, isn't it? Not to mention the formatting and color scheme, which appears to have been done by a 13 year old girl.

Can't tell if it's a good thing or not, IOW ;)

I know they had a booth at the Midwest Horse Fair two weeks ago. I don't know a lot about them though...I really wasn't too interested...their booth was decently crowded. Sorry I'm not much help.

I know. . I half expected a virus to jump onto my computer just from reading his website. . but I got the meat of it. .let me see if I can sum it up here. . . he's quite the zealot.

I think I've spent close to 4 hours on his website just trying to figure it all out. . .

MORE than JUST a SADDLE PAD--a Saddle Fitting System that:

EVENLY distributes EXCESS saddle PRESSURES as your horse MOVES.
WORKS with Wide or Narrow Saddles & Any Horse,
( balance shims are often required to achieve the above ) They work like a wedge under the rocking chair as they ride between the Protective Shields and your tree bars. Front & or rear they adjust the angle of your saddle and stabilize it from rolling!
The Plastic Shields also Protect shoulders in the downhill while holding the saddle from sliding forward!
Mules can be ridden with just about any saddle using the front and rear shims with the Corrector and an Envelope pad.
ENGLISH & WESTERN Versions for ALL Saddles.
BETTER than my former ORTHO-FLEX and other cheap DELRIN PANEL SYSTEMS; Maintains Correct Saddle Position with the leverage designed into the front Shields and requires no yearly tune-up (like Flex Panel saddles) nor BOLTS PROTRUDING INTO STIFF PADDING TO SCAR YOUR ANIMAL!
Just one CorrecTOR goes from horse to horse, saddle to saddle-Not Custom Fitted! It's literally self adjusting so it positions the same saddle individually for each horse you put it on.
NO Delrin Flex Panels, NO Bounce, NO Loin Rubbing! The NEMESIS of flex panel systems! Go to the Navigation bar, above left, to see converted flex-panel saddles and learn what's involved. Also Steele Plantation saddles do well with the stuffed Panels to straighten the banana bar design.
Replaces Delrin Panels on Ortho-Flex and all other OrthoFlex Clones (knock-offs) , very successfully! (and they are all knock-offs of the systems I patented) None of the mountings or panels are new. Most have "simple logic" mistakes that I made 20 years ago with the early Ortho-Flexes..
CLOSE CONTACT! The Corrector requires little or NO padding above it.
Long Lasting and Costs little more than a Quality Saddle Pad.
Corrects the Design Deficiencies INHERENT in ALL Saddles, even Treeless saddles are improved, for the horse & rider, with the Corrector's Treeless Shim & E Pad Combo!
Described as a Parallel Scapula (in-front) by Dr. Ezra Edgerton NC. , after testing on a number of different animals.

Anyways, his website is horrid but the pad intrigues me. I wish I could find a used one. . .

I've wondered about that pad myself...the website is awful.

I know several endurance riders that have used it. I will ask around here. We have a LOT of endurance riders that do the 50 and 100 mile rides, so I would consider their opinions pretty well.

Might take me a few days to get back to you on that. ;)

I would try the SMX Air Ride Ortho Sport first, has been a great tool in my tackroom......

used it on my high-withered Arabian Taz, on a hollow-shouldered Paint mare, and on fiancee's high-withered.hollow-shouldered Thunder. I believe Dakota Sunrise uses it on her Saddlebred.

basic model runs around $120.... http://www.saddleandtackwarehouse.com/product-details.asp?item_id=808

and now heavy duty model which I would like to acquire...

I have one and it didn't work for Tav really. Works great as a third pad on Sterling though! She has a sway back pad, a todd sloan wool pad and her Big boy SMX Ortho sport pad and her saddle is perfect. . .oh the horrors of aging!

This one looks interesting. . Is it too much like a sway back pad though?

Lol. . .well. . . it went missing for the night. Robert came by and took it try it out on his mustang for Colorado. So I just got it back today. I tried the saddle on with it and it seems like it might work. . . will ride tomorrow! (I was home with just my kid and Tav has had 2 weeks off so I didn't want to risk it)

k! I officially tested it today!! It needs an extra pad but I think it's going to work just fine. It put too much pressure on his withers but I think with another 1/2 wool pad it'll be perfect!! Poor husband. We were on 2 horses today with $800 worth of pads between us. .. he won't be happy when I tell him I need another $100 wool pad. . . lol
