Well, I was little busy at work so I didn't come here for a while.
Anyways, Sydney is progressing well.
She knows to "walk" and "stop" now. She also learned to "wait". She got used to me so much she follows me around like a dog! Gets very excited to see me come home from work.
I can tie her now too.
I have problems to get her let me clean her hooves. Not sure why, but if I lift her foot up she looses balance and wants to put her leg right back on the ground. I try to lean to her a little so she puts her weight on the other 3 legs but as soon as I start lifting her foot she makes a step and looses balance. Than I start again by telling her to "wait" to make her stand still and she is good in it, until I try to lift her leg.
She does "wait" for everything else.
As far as back legs I didn't even get to the point to be able to lift her leg. She does let me stroke it though and doesn't kick, even though I can tell she is uncomfortable.
We started learning to walk in the circle in the round pen. She is not good at it yet, tries to follow me. Yesterday was actually first day that she managed to walk several circles around.
I did get a bridle for her but didn't put it on her yet. So far we are using halter and lead rope. She is pretty comfortable with it now. Waits still for me to take the halter off or to put it on.
Vet said she doesn't look pregnant. He gave her wormer and a shot.
Checked the hay I feed and the stall she spends nights in. He thought everything was OK.
So that is about it as far as updates on Sydney.
I got a couple of books. Hopefully they will help me train her.

Sounds like things are going well for you two. ^_^ I love that last picture and the one with her and the doggy. As far as the hoof thing goes, I think for the front feet she is testing you, I would make her hold her hoof, she's trying to figure out what she can and can't get away with. Sounds like she needs some desensitizing with her back feetsies. I am sure thee experts will check out this thread and give you better instructions, I would attempt, but my attempt would be pathetic compared to theirs. =P

Sounds like it is going well, she sure is pretty, I love the flaxen mane!

It'll all take time and patience, but keep plugging along and she will do great for you....sometimes hooves take a while, be patient but firm with her. Pretty soon she'll learn how to balance herself too.

I don't know the whole story behind this, (must of missed it somewhere) but that's not to hard with me! However, it sounds as though she is coming along nicely! I'm glad to hear it! She is beautiful by the way! I love the picture of her & the dog as well!

Pretty girl..Sounds like things are coming along nicely. I have to agree with Cloe that she is testing you with her feet.

Thanks everyone!
I'll keep trying with her. I'm worried that she may have hoof problems if they don't get periodically cleaned. I have managed to clean the front hooves - always did a little at a time. I cannot tell to what extreme a horse would go to test me. She almost fell when I wanted to hold her hoof up for a little longer - touched the ground with her knee. Than she seemed even more uneasy. Maybe it is still a little too soon.
