flying lead changes

I have been working on flying lead changes . When I ask Petey he switches half and takes off with his head up.. how can I get him to stop doing that?? :innocent:

have someone with a trained eye watch you and let you know what you are doing wrong- consistently.
Sounds like a balance issue to me. Kick it old school and do any and all balance practice techniques you can remember, brush up on them. It wouldn't hurt =] <3

i am investing in lessons for this exact issue~ to learn what exercises will help us both learn balance, and how to do them correctly. i tried using books & you tube for ideas~ my favorite was this~getting on a 20 meter circle, leg yielding in to a smaller circle, then leg yielding out & asking for canter when i'm almost back to 20 meter circle has helped the most. but i want to make sure i am doing things correctly & get some different input, so decided to get some lessons. i'm actually really excited to see what she has to say, i can't wait
