How do you embed a video like from Youtube

I know lots of people know how to do this but I don't have a clue. I was trying to embed a video from CNN and I have their code but I have tried just pasting, imputting a weblink, an image. Which of these buttons at the top do I need?

We have a plugin installed that will automatically convert a standard link into the embed code for a large number of sites, and CNN is one of them that should work. Try just entering a link to the video's page (cnn.com/video/etc...) and post it. If it doesn't work, let me know and I'll see if I get it figured out.

When I preview the post all I get is the code. It is this

When you get the share code from the site, use the Link option instead of Embed. However, it looks like their code has changed a bit, so I'll have to see if I can tweak the plugin to update it.

It's important to note that the auto-embed will not show up when you preview the post, only when you actually submit it. That is when the filter clicks in.

I checked your thread, and did some testing, and think I figured out what is going on.

When you click the Share button on YouTube, by default it now uses a youtu.be short URL, which the auto-embed filter does not recognize.

Instead of using that, click the 'Show Options' link and check the box for 'Long Link'. Copy and paste that into your post, and video will embed.
