Today when I was taking off Easter's blanket I shocked her with the static.. I am not sure if I shocked her or if she shocked me. Either way she spooked and broke the cross ties again. How do you stop the static? I need some help with this.
Thanks...

Have you got a wool or fleece liner on it?

I've honestly never had this issue!

Just touch something metal to get rid of the charge on you....then use a wet towel(or showsheen) under the front of the blanket to get rid of the charge on your horse. Fold the front back onto the back after un-clipping snaps and then slide blanket off the back Use some showsheen to get rid of static hair on your horse....

The blanket she is using now is wool lined. This is the first time I have ever had this problem. Do I put the show sheen on right before I put the blanket on her? Would a sleezy help or does it make it worse?

I think a sleezy would make it worse.... I just run my hand with some showsheen on it under the blanket and then un-clip when I'm takin it off... it may also help before putting it on.:)

oh me me ! I have this problem with ben. He freaks out when his blanket has static. I bought static gaurd at target and just spray it on the inside of his blanket... it works really well, its made for clothes, but it works!

I have a horse that is terrified of blankets going over her head because of static. I can still take it off of her if I unsnap the front but no pulling it off over the head. Try taking it off when she isn't tied for a while so she won't set back. Maybe try some dryer sheets around it while you are taking it off? Not sure! Sorry I can't help more!

I've had problems with blanket static and there are a couple things you can do. The easiest is to wet your finger and keep your finger on your horses neck as you remove the blanket, they wont get shocked--sounds too simple but it works. Other things that work are rubbing a dryer sheet on your horse before you put the blanket on, and you can also spray a little Static Guard on yourself and the blanket when you remove it. I hate winter! :(

Oh man do we have that problem here. The climate is so dry this time of year. The best advice I can give is to fold back the blanket in sections instead of sliding them off, that way you don't create as much static. That seems to be the only way I can get them off my boy without zapping the both of us.

Static Guard :)I got thru cans of it in the winter. The water trick works but since we only have cold water I end up with frozen fingers and that just wont' do for me :)

I was going to reccomend the Static guard stuff or even a bounce...rub it along as you take the blanket off.

Yeah, with the dry weather here my horses get static shocked all the time when taking their blankets off. My mares hate it, poor things. My gelding is usually to preoccupied to notice or care though.

I think I will try the static guard. I wonder if it will work for a few days or if I need to do it every day. I don't use Show Sheen but I am going to get some this week and try that too. Maybe both will work.
