Well, my Echocardiogram is tomorrow - fun fun, eh? Now, they said it is going to take an hour, that means I just sit there for an hour doing nothing?! Do you know what happens when I have to do nothing for an hour? I'm going to go insane, insane I tell you! I am sure there is someone on this board who has had one before (this will be my second, but I was seven the last time I had one, so I just don't remember), what did you do to entertain yourself?

Thought I'd share, lol. :D

Read something... or take a gameboy. :D I'd read... but that's me. I hope everything goes well, you'll have to update us when you get home! :)!

I promise I will! (: I suppose I could take a book...me + reading = me bored. :P Hah, but I will be less bored than I would be without the book...:D

I guess I didn't realize you had a heart concern. All the best to you tomorrow! I hope you find out good news :)

I think I only talked about it with Emily (alittleoffkey), but I have a heart murmur and my heart has been hurting me a lot lately and the doctor thinks I have mitral valve prolapse, so yeah, I need an Echo! Last time I had one because I was passing out (that's when I was seven) and they wanted to make sure it had nothing to do with my heart...but thank you! I'll let you guys know how it goes. :)

How about taking a good horse magazine?

I know what you mean, though- I was suffering from forum withdrawel tonight, and I was at a clinic on senior horse care, for crying out loud!

Mitral valve prolapse- Care to share, or do I gotta go look it up?

I sort of have an idea what it is, but not exact on the details.

Hope your echocardiogram comes out okay, cloedoll!

1 hour isn't that long! I guess not, but I have this bad problem of just laughing hysterically...and I can't stop. I have this feeling if I'm bored for an hour, I'm going to start to laugh insanely...haha.

Gypsy Rose -- To be honest, I am not even 100% sure what it is...WebMd.com! Haha!

ETA: I WebMD'd it and I think it's the regurgitation one (ew, that sounds so gross!), because he was worried about blood leaking or something lovely like that...I'll find out tomorrow! :D

I guess I know where I'm headed- want me to post what I find out?

If you want to, I feel bad making anyone do any research when I don't know for sure! Lol. I promise I'll give everyone a full update when I get back! :)

Couldn't find anything on WebMD, but this is prety informative.

You're forgetting something, cloedoll-I do this for the health section of the forum a lot- this was EASY compared to some of that stuff, lol!

Thanks for finding that, Gypsy! It's appreciated. :) Sounds basically like what the doctor was saying (I never understand doctor talk ) and describes the 'symptoms' I have.

I'll be back with a full report. :D

Thanks again! (:

I didn't know you had a heart murmer, either!
I wouldn't worry too much about how you'll spend your time. The test may take an hour, but they will keep you 'occupied.'
Best of luck with this! Be sure to keep us posted with the results, okay?

I always take a book or two or three- whenever I have to wait.

I've had several echocardiagrams. I fell asleep for the last two....
Just be grateful it's not a stress echo! They suck. I had to jog on a treadmill inclined at 35 degrees for 15 minutes.... without a bra!!! Omg did it hurt!

My mom has mitrovalve prolapse and it's never given her any trouble. She has to wear a heart monitor for a few days evrey year to check up on it and that's it. It's been 12 years since my heart started doing funny things and they still don't know what's wrong with it....

Hope everything goes ok, keep us in the loop!

Ahhhhhh, that would suck!

The only problems I get is I can never run (which sucks because I used to be able to run a lot, I love the traedmill, too lol) because my heart always starts to hurt real bad, it sometimes hurts when I horseback ride and other times it just hearts! Grr.

I'll keep you guys updated, thanks for all the good thoughts! :D

Caitlin--I've had a mild MVP for 15 years. Every once in awhile, my heart just feels funny. I just make myself cough and it goes away. (Like a mini shock to the heart;)) It really works. The only thing I have to do is make sure I take Penicillin when I have any teeth work done. You just have a better chance of getting a bacterial infection in your heart when you have this.

I'm such a talker that I talked to the technician the whole time and the hour just flew by!! Good luck and let us know the results.

Good luck Cloe! You have a lot of friends here that will be patiently waiting to hear back from you. The good news is that a lot of people have those types of heart conditions and do very well. I ope it all gets figured out. I can't imagine you not posting here for more than an hour lol.

Is this the test thingy that you didn't want to have that you told me about on the phone a few weeks ago? I guess downright refusing didn't work, huh? It never does.

Definately keep me posted and tell me how it goes! If you were allowed to have your cell I'd say text me and I'll keep you company and entertained while you wait, but you probably can't have it on inside, huh?
Maybe take a good horse magazine, or if you have cd walkman or ipod take that so you can at least listen to music.

My cousin's three month old baby just had an Echo....they kept him still for an hour by dipping a pacifier in sugar water over and over until he fell asleep.
I don't think you need any sugar though! Would probably make it worse.

My cousin's baby has a hole in his heart and needs surgery :(

I'm back. =P I don't know what's going on yet, the doctor will take a look at the results, then we set up an appointment and go over the results. They mentioned a stress test, I might have to do that (ya jinxed me, Peyton! ;)). So, I guess I'll update everyone whenever I know the results and that fun stuff. :D

Doesn't that just drive you nuts?

I mean, they know something's wrong, but you have to go through this and that to confirm it, and meanwhile, it's a big waiting game. Be nice if a person could go in, find out what's wrong, and get it dealt with right away. I guess that's not how the real world works though!

I see you survived and didn't end up in the looney bin from forum withdrawel!

Well, at least you got through the hour of sitting there not doing anything OK. :)

Or did the thought I might be back here passing you up on the post count make you twitchy? ;) :D

cloedoll
10-08-2008, 05:02 PM
Haha, yeah it wasn't too bad waiting, I talked about horses - go figure. :D No forum withdrawals, but that was only a couple for hours...if it's 24hrs, then we have a problem.

Or did the thought I might be back here passing you up on the post count make you twitchy? ;) :D

LOL! Nah, I am embarrassed I'm the top poster at the moment! :o

Hope your doctor can get to the bottom of why you are feeling lousey.....do you see a cardiologist or regular doctor? I have had heart problems my entire life (an arrhythmia, and also some mitral valve issues), I went to school for ultrasound many years ago (and interned a little in the echocardiogram area). It took me about four cardiologists until I found the right doctor who knew what was going on and who got me some good results.

I've had a couple stress tests too, I never made it for very long tho on that treadmill......lol. I get real short of breath too.

Let us know how you're doing!
