View Full Version : What was/is my hubby thinking?

He is a great guy. Really. Love him to death. But sometimes I wonder....

We have a couch that we bought when we first moved in together. It's about 4 years old but it's still in good shape. We hate it though because the cushions aren't attached to the couch and with the kids, etc. they get messed up all the time. But we still have it in our living room and use it. So thoughtful hubby decided to tell a guy that he works with that he would sell him our couch?

So today he called me on his break and said the guy and his girlfriend were going to come over TODAY to see the couch. Umm.... what I want to know is what are we going to do WITHOUT a couch? We have a futon we could use... but.... ???

Now he's not selling it for more than $200 (because he's friends with this guy and the guy needs a couch) so that won't be enough for us to get a new one...

Sometimes I just wonder where or how a guys brain works.

ETA: I just don't know how an offhand remark from me: "I really don't like our couch." turns into we might now be couchless...

Maybe he has a *plan* for a new one that you are not privy to and he needs it out of the way.

Try not to make too big a stink about it anyway till you know :D

You just have to wonder don't you? We had new furniture on order and my man gave our whole living room set away to someone he works with. We were glad it got a home but we were without a set for like a month! I had an empty living room!!!!!

Hope you'll find something you like that doesn't cost a small fortune.

I'm not too upset about it. But since I do stay at home with the kids... and the playroom is the living room, etc. A couch would be nice. Maybe he'll take me furniture shopping today when we go into town. ;) ha ha

Well, to be honest when I read the title, my answer was 'nothing' hahaha. Hopefully he's going to surprise you with a new better couch. We have a couch that the cushions don't come off, I don't think my parents paid too much for it either, but it was a while ago.

When my husband and I moved from our old house into the new one, I had a beautiful sectional couch with the attached recliners on the ends. This set was HEAVY. When it came to moving day, the three men here decided that it was TOO much work to move to the new house so they loaded it up in the truck and took it to the DUMP:eek: (this couch was only a couple years old and in GREAT CONDITION-just TOO HEAVY!!!)
Needless to say, I almost KILLED MY HUSBAND that day especially since I was stuck with a little CHEAP CRAPPY couch to replace it ???? I did however, go out and buy ALL NEW couches and love seats (bigger house, more furniture;))
Moral of this story, don't kill the husband until you know for sure what his intentions are, mine was a justifiable to slap the sheetz out of him:innocent:

The question is, without the removable couch cushions, what will the kids build forts out of?

I literally had to LOL at your husband's thought process as well. We have couches with unattached cushions as well, so I feel your pain. Except ours are 20+ years old (though nobody ever believes that when I tell them) so they have an even MORE difficult time holding their cushions, lol.

WB has an excellent point- maybe new furniture for Christmas is in order? Would that be a possibility? See, I wouldn't have thought of that and would've already nipped the selling thing in the bud, possibly ruining everything. :D

Lets hope that the hubby has a plan already in the works.

Maybe you can ask when he plans to take you couch-shopping?! lol! Tell him it better be before his friend buys your couch! :)

Just hop on craigslist and find yourself a new couch! We got a leather couch/loveseat and matching foot stool for $250. It's in like new condition and has ATTACHED cushions. :D We got all our furniture used on craigslist.
