I was working my 2 horse trailer. Its nothing fancy - an old steel one we bought for cheap. Just wanted something that we could use to go to the vets if needed or the local trails. First I pulled up one some of the floor boards today to check the metal support bars underneath. Those looked even better than I expected.
Then I started touching up some rust spots with rustoleum, when I felt something on the side of my face. If felt like stiff legs and I thought one of the many grass hoppers had gotten on me. I brushed it off to instead discover something that looked like this:

In my neck of the woods they are called a "writing spider" as they tend to make heaveir white ziz zags with their web in the center. They are not deadly and they catch lots of insects. When Diane sees that photo she will freak. A total arachnaphobiac. I would have had to call a life flight helicopter to her if it were on her face.LOL In her case that WOULD be deadly.

I see those things *all* the stinking time, they are so nasty.
Oh my goodness...spiders are okay if they don't touch me...but if I ever found something like that on my face I would cry!
They call them "garden spiders" around here, but they do the heavy zig-zag in their web. They get big around here and the legs on some of them can span the size fo my palm. I thought all of them were gone around here because our muscovies love eating these things and black widows. Eat them up like candy. Guess they didn't get them all.

Yeah, they get big in Georgia too. I love them though, they seem to keep to themselves. I HATE black widows. I have killed several LARGE ones around the house this year. I am going to have to spray to get rid of all of them. They ARE dangerous and if you see one, you can count on many more are hiding out somewhere.
Black widows scare me. We used to have them in the barn, but I haven't seen any in about a year.

Oh, that's a cool spider! I love spiders but I don't think I'd want one of those on my face if they get as big as you say they can.
