Since everyone wanted to know what happened to George.. and I did not feel comfortable posting via horse.com

George was in his early 20's...actively acting as a pony horse at the race track, jumping 3'3", and trail riding several times a week.

I was away for the weekend when George coliced and no one was there to attend to him. (he was supervised but BO's were away). He passed away in his stall in the night.....

Oh dear, what a shock. I am so sorry.
He sure had a good full horse life. May he rest in peace, and may you have peace too.

He was my totem animal and my spirit guide. To this day I have his mane and tail. He was the grandson of War Admiral. Standing 17.3 (I'm tall... almost 6 ft.. so he doesn't look so big lol) he was a winning track horse, a loving companion, and a dedicated competitor in the world of dressage. He raised me. And he raised my son.

It happened in March.. and it still hurts. I will miss him for the rest of my days.

Well, I am glad you finally told us. We all should stop and pause a moment for those passings, and they should be shared with other people. It's part of life.

It will come to all of us, eventually, in our own time.

I'm so sorry. The ones that raise you are the hardest to lose. They've given you so much, and once you can start giving back... it can never be enough for what they've done for you. George was a very special horse, and I'm glad you felt that you could share your loss with us. Prayers up for your and your son's peace.

Wow. I had no idea and I am sooo sorry to hear that George is gone. The end of winter '08 was a VERY bad time for horses - I lost my OTTB on March 1st and there were at least three others on h.com that lost their horses right around that same time.

RIP George - there are a whole lot of people who will look forward to meeting you at the bridge one day.

Thanks for sharing may he RIP when you have that bond it doens't matter how long you have had them it hurts to loose them hugs to you.
I lost my boy in Sept of '03 after being together 20 years and it is still hard some times even with my filly to help me get thru. It' been all this time and the bond between my filly has really just started to get even close to what I had with him, it will never be the same and I know that but there is always another that will step in and fill some of the gap.

I'll leave it sticky for a day or two so everyone sees it. I just didn't want it to get lost.

George was a part of this forum too, through your posts, and he will be missed.

Glad you are here, I did not realize that was you! Thank you for sharing George's story. I often wondered but didn't want to push you, figured you would tell us when the time is right.

George looks so much like and OTTB that my daugther rode for years at her first barn, Mikey......he was in his 20's as well and was finally put out of commission because he had respiratory problems. I am sure he lived out his days knowing that he made a little girl happy to have ridden him...........

Thank you everyone. I really do appreciate it. It's been months but it never feels any easier. And I didn't even own him anymore at the time... and I feel for the poor little girl who had bought him. He was her brand new shiny show pony. But she is alright, too.. has a new horse etc.

It broke my heart when I first saw that in your signature at h.com. I met George on your old blog, like a couple of years ago. I think I read every post about the yoga stuff you did with him the first two days after I found your blog. Then of course, I went to h.com and had to tell everyone of the cool stuff I had found.

You could see the bond between you two. It was very obvious he was a special horse. I hope you don't mind this question, but, do you dream of him? I dream of Solon several times a week. It's like he's always close even in my subconcious.

I'm very sorry Pallavesta. I know it hurts. He was a great horse. Thanks for feeling comfortable enough to share with us your pain. We do care and I pray for your pain to be short lived and that only fond memories remain.

Thank you so much for all of your kind words.

Cheval: I still have a good amount of his tail. I keep some around a Goddess statue. I also have a single dread lock behind my ear that is a mix of his tail and my hair.

You know whats funny... I have honestly not even had one dream about him. I do day dream about him a lot. But not one single dream in my sleep. I thought it was a negative thing. But now I think he might just be leaving me in peace.

I thought I would post a few more pictures of him...since Gypsy reminded me some of you never knew him..

Here is a really good video. I made it a long time ago.. its a happy video, dont worry.. and a good song, too (spin doctors).. I'd love it if you watched it

Thank you so much.

I am at such a loss for words. George was a light for so many of us... I wish you the best.

I know you aren't the first one in here to say it. But I don't know if everyone knows how much it means to me that George was such a big part of everyone. Even those who didn't personally know him. I think he was here for a purpose. And he went above and beyond. He was a miracle to me and every child and adult I ever put on his back.

I have been trying to think of something to say to you but I have no words. I am very sorry for the loss of George. Everytime I see the photos of him he brings back memories of my Java.
George was a one in a million! I bet he's found Hope and is showing her all the great places to eat over the rainbow bridge!

That's so sad Pallavesta. I hope you find peace. He was a beautiful horse! Reminds me of a horse in my past, Tony. George was the grandson of War Admiral!? How cool! I don't even know whatelse to say to you other than Im sorry for your loss & may George find peace.

So sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed reading your posts on the old forum about George. The two of you inspired me to put my saddle away for awhile and enjoy bareback riding with my mare. RIP, George, you'll be missed by many.
