I have a rich uncle who has everything known to man... thus he's the hardest person on the planet to shop for. BUT his two dogs and his cat are his entire world (he doesn't have kids), so I thought that this year I could try to make them some homemade treats for Christmas.

He cooks for them every night (the dogs get steak/lamb/chicken/etc while he eats a balogna sandwich, because he's too lazy to cook for himself. If he's too lazy to cook, then he'll bring them takeout from Longhorns.), so the treats have to be really good or they just won't eat them. His oldest dog turns her nose up at McDonalds - the younger one just came from the pound a couple of months ago, so she's still willing to eat such a pathetic excuse for a meal. :D

They also need to be able to last for awhile without refrigeration, because he lives in Texas (but the dogs do come out to GA with him for Christmas).

I'd also make enough treats to send home with his girlfriend for her cat and two dogs... but they actually eat dog food ( ), so I'm not as concerned with their opinions of the treats.

So... any recipes you've tried? :cowboy:

wow! I thought my dogs were spoiled because I mix rice and beef bullion in their food (it stretches there dog food so I don't have to buy as much...)! No suggestions but good luck!

Yeah, they're pretty spoiled. My Uncle was really excited when he got Abby (the oldest) to eat chic-fil-et's mini biscuits (they were on the road to GA and hungry, and Longhorn isn't open at 9 am). He was so excited that he got her to eat cheap food, out of the 8 he ordered she got 6. Maggie (the puppy) and Alex (the kitten) are new pound pets, so they think they've died and gone to heaven. Abby was an only child for 5+ years, so she was less than enthused about their arrival. :D
