For those of you who do not know, I am a special ED teacher and I also run the therapeutic riding program. The kids get to ride twice a week.

We're dead in the middle of the projects, so it's not the most impressive looking place. Sorry.

Me ponying Jordan, who is riding Jordan. (I'm on my Tally)

Jordan. He's in my class. He has DS. The funniest kid ever. And LOVES the horses

My horse is so patient lol (One of the girls offered to go catch him.. this is how his halter was put on)

I went on a "trail" ride afterwards.. where Tally is now, it's just neighborhoods etc.. so we rode to 711 lol

I was a volunteer at a TR facility totally for selfish reasons at first (I always loved horses, but didn't have one), but I learned way more from the kids there. You are doing a great job :)

Thanks everyone :)

I cant believe how lucky I am to get to do this for a living. I am a teacher of a class of 3 M-F... Tuesdays and Thursdays I teach the kids yoga. Wed and Fri its riding. Some just sit and are led around. Some are actually taking real lessons. And a few are good enough to canter etc..

I really do love it.

And Tally is wonderful. I cant wait until we close on our property and he gets to come live with me. He's such an amazing horse!

Wow Lindsey, That is great. I'm thankful there are people out there like yourself to give these kids/teens a good time when it may seem the world is down on them! Looks like they enjoyed themselves!

Thank you so much everyone. I do love what I do... I really do. It's so interesting to see that the toughest most street kid here will turn to mush around a horse.

What's funny is Tally isn't really a "kid horse".. he rather dislikes them actually.. but for some reason, he tolerates A LOT from them lol. He gives me the occassional pinned ear over it all, but for the most part, he's a trooper.

Joey: Your'e right ;) No horses lasted all of 4 months since I got to Florida lol

lol Joey.. yeah it was a long haul for sure :)

Thanks everyone :)

We're doing our first show next month. But there will be LOTS more pictures coming soon. As it is, I only have time to ride him twice a week until our house is built. Then he'll be right in my back yard.

Great pictures... and only someone with a heart of stone could look at that one of Tally's halter on wrong and not smile! What a wonderful job you have. :)

I apparently missed something though because I knew you were getting "horse lonely" and looking for a horse but I didn't know you got one. Is there a thread you can direct me to - I'd like to know more about him!?

Basically, my boss gave him to me. Because, other than being good for practicing grooming etc.. lung lining kids and lead line.. I'm the only one who can ride him. He's not bad.. just stubborn lol And he is western at heart, so I am focusing more on reined cow horse and horsemanship stuff with him. He's a dream for me. I just love him!
