WOW!!! What a day. I had to pee 3 times before even getting to the horses...must have been the coffee... Then I got to the staging area and had to pee again...nope, no potties, so duck between the truck and trailer and PRAY nobody pulled up!

Ok....felt much better, tacked up Missy and waited for the trailers to pull in and boy did they come!!! We had riders coming from all over the valley! Once everyone was tacked up, we headed for the trails. I think we had 33 riders in all! Even CircleR and her daughter joined the fun!

Missy did great except that she wanted to stay with the lead pack, so I had to keep holding her back....but on the way back I did let her trot and lope a bit! It was so much fun not worrying if she was going to buck or act up.

We all rode up to the ghost town, took up ALL the hitching posts, and hit the bar.....um restaraunt....:innocent: So here's the pics you all asked for! It was a great day!!

Annie & Dixie....OMG...you have never heard of a ghost town?? LOL

This is the Goldfield Ghost town in Arizona. It was a real town in 1893. the pics of the saloon where we had lunch was one of 3 that existed in the town on 1893. It was an old mining town. They have lots of little shops there and hold gunfights every hour on the weekends. You can go to www.goldfieldghosttown.com to learn more about it.

It's part of the old west. We have lots of ghost towns out here! Even have the town of Tombstone about 3 hours from where I live.

What fun ! I loved to see the horses so calmly tied alongside each other. Even though they were strangers to each other they behaved. Give us something to think abt.

Looks like soooo much fun!!! It would be so much fun to ride across the desert like that and to go to a real "Old West" town! I too, am impressed that everyone's horses seemed to be behaving being tied so closely together. Chic is the same way about wanting to be leading the pack --why are some like that?? You'd think they would be more secure in the middle or towards the end where they are following! But no, most of the time she ends up making her way towards the front--although I practice making her get used to the back!

Ummmm, Miss, where are the pics of you and Missy? Want to see you guys too!!

Oh Kristy!!! It was sooooo much fun I had a blast!!! Allie was so funny on her horse Waylan, she didn't even spill a drop of her drink. She is a breast cancer survivor!! One tough lady. I do have pictures, but I forgot my camera this morning (I'm at work shhhh!!) I promise to post some of Country Girl and her new horse Missy tomorrow!!

Thanks so much for organizing the ride, there were so many people and I didn't get to meet them all. Maybe next time!!

CircleR....I am still wondering HOW she got on Waylon without spilling her drink!! LOL He is a tall horse and she is just a little thing...LOL she was funny.

The rides aren't usually THAT big, but it was nice that everyone knew how to handle their horses. The groups are usually 10 to 20 riders.

Gaited we usually plan a lot of campouts during the summer. Maybe one of these times you could come on down. And if I ever get up to Kingman, maybe we could meet up....:cowboy:

Deal!
As I always say, "HAVE TRAILER, WILL TRAVEL!" I'm game for new adventures!

Maybe we could get some of us westerners out from this forum for a meet and greet ride. That would be pretty cool.

Great pictures and looked like alot of fun! Love the rock mountains and old buildings. Nice turnout and calm looking horses. Been out there a couple of times and it reminded me how pretty it was. I love seeing different parts of the country.

What a wonderful trip!!! I was very impressed with those horses on the hitching posts!! No one got kicked!!!!! Impressive!!!

And I've always figured the reason horses like to be in front is in the wild the first horse gets eaten last. . . since predators are in the rear. That was always my reasoning.

Most rides out here, horses are always hitched next to each other. Usually the only issues we have are the ones that pull back, but they learn.

I am not sure how Dallas would have done at the hitching post. I think he would have been fine.

After thinking about the ride with Missy...I think I figured it out...on the way in she was pretty good, but on the way out she was go go go. The horse she was tied next to at the hitching rail was one in the lead group, so I think she was looking for her new friend...LOL

This was a nice ride, it was still a little short. Only 3 hrs of riding.....We are going to plan another one soon. There is a camp out ride this coming weekend, but it is on the same weekend that they are doing the awards for the the gymkhanas. So I have to take Cheyenne to that.

A big group campout ride sounds fun, you gotta love the desert weather. No where else you could plan that in the winter!

Ok I got some pictures, but not too many. The parts of this trail that you see were very easy, but when we got to some places it was steep and very rocky. So we were handling the horses and not taking pictures.

I have one of Country Girl getting everybody rounded up and headed out.
One on the trail, and one of the steak house and the horses waiting.
The mountains were gorgeous!!

And here is one of my beautiful daughter and her horse Noche. I Just had to throw one in of her. I am so proud her!! Old Noche had a tough time on those steep climbs but they did it!! And on the way back I lost sight of them they were so far ahead. They were both ready to get home!!

Oh, can someone help me to get these pictures bigger??? They ended up so small.

Country Girl 43
12-09-2008, 08:04 AM
Hey CircleR....are you loading those on photobucket?? If so, there is an option as to what size you want the photos to be. You might have downloaded them as "thumbnails". I have done this before...

Check your photobucket settings....and chose the 600x400 or something close to those numbers.

Maybe Cloedoll can help you out here. It took me 2 months to figure out the size thingy!
