I know I posted a thread like this on the other forum, but I didn't get many hits.. Soo!
I am Super proud of my baby Dolly. We went to a trail/showish thing today.
She was perfect the whole day!! I am the proudest mommy in the world. I know it might not seem like much to everyone, but me and Dolly have never been away from the barn. So our first time out and she was so good!! I entered like a trail/obstacle class. Eeeeeekk, can you tell how happy I am.. Hehe :) Sorry so on with the pictures!! ;)
Oh and I forgot to mention on the other forum, I wore a helment for the first time..It was very annoying and hot..But I felt safe.:innocent:

All loaded up and ready to go! Dolly got in perfect. Thats Sadie on the right.

I really think Dolly is just amazing looking. I remember when you posted her in the confo section on the other board... no one had any complaints. There is no such thing as too many Dolly pictures! Glad you guys did so well together your first time out away from the barn.

And your barn is pretty cute too!

Beautiful horses! And nifty trailer!

..Sorry no pictures during the ride..http://forum.horse.com/image/s7.gif
But here we are after a long ride. That's a pretty significant gap in the coverage of this event, don't you think??? ;)

Would you mind a little critique on the fit of that saddle?

I hope not.

It's too wide. Maybe not critically so, it might be fixable with a corrective pad. But it's not level on her and that causes the front of the saddle to carry the bulk of the pressure. You can see the dry spot under the front of the saddle in the after pic.

I'd be happy to help more with this if you like :)

Thanks soooooo much for all the nice comments guys!!

And WashingtonBay I don't mind at all!! I actually bought the saddle
before Dolly.. I know its terrible, but the horse I was going to buy before I got Dolly fit the saddle
perfect, Dolly is much smaller than that horse. Annnny help would be great!! And links or suggestions would help alot!!

I'm so happy they were well behaved. It always makes me feel good when my "kids" are good when they go some place! They don't travel much now but last yr we used to take one to some other stables and when he was a good boy I was so glad.

They are such beautiful horses!!!!! Your barn is really nice too, some day I hope to have a real barn with real stalls in case I need to keep the boys inside. I can't do that now if I have to. The run in has a door but I can't leave one in and one out. I enjoyed the pictures!

Look for a pad that is built up in front. To test how much it would take, you could even try folding a navaho or even a towel over to cover under the front half of the saddle to see if it sits and rides any better. Careful, you don't want to create wrinkles or voids, just a nice pad surface that will distribute the weight more evenly.

You want that skirting to sit level, I think if you feel underneath that would also make the tree level... as you can see in this pic, it's pitched down quite a bit on her, which also tends to focus all your weight forward. Like I said above, it may not be critical, the angles of the tree don't look too bad, it's just a little too wide.

Try it with some homemade 'shims' over the top of that felt pad first... and maybe take some more pictures.

Blue is definitely her color :) So glad you had fun and she behaved like she'd done it forever on her first time out!! Go Dolly! She is such a beautiful thing, you have her in great shape :) Gotta say that Sadie is a looker too! Is she a pinto Arab or just a paint with a dainty head? Enjoy these proud mommy moments so you can flash back to them when she gets a little sassy :)
