Yesterday we gave Nevada his first Horse Mill experience.

Started off by me leading him round in there as it rotated slowly....he was totally calm about everything but kept giving me "and the point is what exctly looks"

I then took of the lead rope and he walked on his own for 5 minutes....found the turns to the other direction mildly exciting but got over himself after the third one.

Ended the session by putting Bas (big been there done that got the t-shirt yawn) Friesian in front of him and his pasture Pal Rowy (small spunky pony) behind him and set them off for 10 mins. He took to it like a duck to water and will now be included in sessions every day starting at 10 mins and working up to 45 at a time.

He is taking everything so well....he has only been with us for a week now and has settled in totally. My BO Jenny says he is a joy to work with as he is open to everything. A real testament to good sensible handling as a baby and youngster.

Is the Horse Mill one of those walkers that has a space in it with fences in front and back and the horse isn't tied? If so I've only ever seen them at the race farms I toured in College. They were really cool. Around here it's just plain old walkers with lead ropes and poles.

Can you post a picture of this gadget? I'm not sure I know what it is!

Yes a walker that they walk freely inside, fits up to 10 horses. They are great and every yard has a covered one here, huge part of keeping horses fit and excercised.

Ours is covered which means even when it is lashing down with rain (and it often is at this time of year) the horses can still be excercised. Ours get 1 hour on the mill plus 5 hours turnout in either the paddock (if it is dry enough) or the inside or outside school.

Thats what I think she's talking about! It's what I saw when I was touring the big racing farms. . . ChavHorse is that it? Posted at the same time!! This one is only a 4 horse one. They are really cool!!! We saw a horse stop completely and the little gate behind him just ran over his head and didn't hurt him. Course then he was in with another horse. .which was an issue. .

Equine Woman....that's it exactly but bigger with room for up to 10 horses. It goes one way for 5 mins then stops and turns the other way for 5 mins and so on.

The horses catch on really quickly after a while they hear the motor noise change stop and turn before it starts going in the other direction.

Then I shall attempt photo's of it full up which looks pretty impressive.

Yep if anything goes wrong the bars just go straight over the horse and he ends up in the section behind....which yes is probably a little surprising for the horse behind!
