WOW!! What a selection! I went to a dealer and asked him to show me the least expensive LQ.....nice trailer with a VERY nice price tag....$36K.. Ok, so lets step it down a notch...how about a used one.....ummm, nope that price won't work either.

So, lets just look at 3 horse slants with tack rooms....first one had a tiny tack room...nope that won't do...... Next one, tack room was a decent size...I was picturing maybe doing my own kind of LQ, then he shows me another trailer with all the paneling done and an A/C unit....hummmm...this could work, but the price difference for one with paneling & A/C, verses plain jane was $3K.....I can't imagine that and A/C unit would cost THAT much! I KNOW paneling doesn't cost that much.

Anyone know about trailers that can give me some guidance here? I have never owned anything bigger than a 2 horse straight, let alone a brand new trailer!!!

Usually the ones with A/C and paneling are also insulated.
Trailers are hard to shop for.
Are you looking for gooseneck or pull behind?

Wow! They must be harder to come by than they are up here. About three months ago the Ford dealer in our town took a 3h S/L Exxis with LQ in on a trade... it was an '02 and they had it priced for $10k - we so should have taken out a loan and gotten it.

We are looking for a gooseneck with a large tack room or nice LQ. 85212

I haven't found a decent one used yet. I went to the dealership to SEE what types are available. Figured it would be easier to see them all in one place, instead of driving all over the state. Now at least I know how big I want it, and what I would like in it, and I definately want a GN. The dealership was close to my house, so it was easy. I am going to go to another one about 15 miles from my house, just to see what they have.

At least now I can scratch off some of the ones I had seen on craiglist. Some of those sellers are trying to get full price for used trailers. Geez, if I had bought one of those I would have felt really stupid, considering I can buy a new one for the same price!

Wow, wish you lived closer! A 3 horse LQ around here is pretty cheap, on the other hand a 4H is outrageous! Kinda funny how much difference 1 horse can make!

When you find what you want, you should go online and shop dealers out of your area. If prices are as cheap in other areas/states as people here are saying then it may pay for you to go farther away to purchase such a large ticket item.

Try horsetrailerworld.com. You can look anywhere and get prices and compare. They usually have a huge selection.

Please remember that when trailer shopping they vary in price also due to how they are made......
$3k difference for the paneling, insulation and A/C unit is about what it would cost you to do it yourself.

I have a 3 horse-slant Featherlite with an over sized tack area for me to finish on my own I found off e-bay. The dealer offered to haul the first 200 miles, which saved us even more money. There are only certain makes I will look at and some I will AVOID at all costs.

PM me if you want more specifics of what I paid, etc.
