Who else here works from home?

I get to work from home two days a week and I find that some days I am SOOO productive and get much more done than I would have in the office. However, there are other days (like today:)) where I just can't seem to focus. Do y'all have any tips that help you?

I've heard tips like "Don't stay in your PJ's but get dressed like you're going to work" and "turn the news on in another room so you can hear voices and don't feel so alone" and "leave to go get a latte to get some face to face interaction to wake up the brain and then when you walk back into the home office act as if you've arrived at work".

Hmmm... I think I'll go turn the radio on out in the front room as it does seem awfully quiet today.

I used to work only a few days a week from home and commuted to Seattle the other days, so I remember that the work from home days were nice and a lot more productive. I work from home all the time now, and it's hard, particularly because my job is very part time and much of it is stuff like data entry that has no real urgency. I'm on call all the time, so my work does have a way of coming to me, which is good, but I've become rather task and deadline driven... I may not do a lot for a few days, but I may work 12-14 hours the next day if I get on a roll or have a report due. It's nice to have that flexibility.

I'd say the best advice would be to close your browser and work for an hour or so, then check back in.

I work from home 3 days a week typically and come into the office the other two. I find I usually work longer hours when I am at home (probably not clock watching as much ;) ) I agree with you though that sometimes it can be difficult to stay on task ;) I try to stay really focused on work most of the day, but I give myself breaks - just like I would take in the office. Helps me get it outta my system so I can get my stuff done :)
