WHOO HOOO!! :cowboy: I just got home from finishing my sewing project for my sister in law. I so excited for her to see it! It used to be a rocking chair with bright green padding (it matched my sons nursery)... well I recovered it (with my mother in laws help) to this!

I am thrilled because the only thing I have ever sewn before this was a set of curtains. I really hope she likes it. She is having another baby (another boy) next week on Tuesday. She did the boys' room in a cowboy theme...so I did this to match.
The brown looks almost like burlap and the print is a bright red. It looks kinda orange in the pictures.

That's very nice. Not that I'm an expert, but I would be proud to have that chair in my house. Looks very nice. Hope she like it, I'm sure a lot of love went into each stitch.

VEry nice!! I need to recover my glider. . .but I have zero talent in the sewing department. I know just enough to thread the needle on the machine and that's make it go!

Thanks guys! She is supposed to be coming over today in a few hours. I'm glad that you guys think it look okay.
Believe me, without my mother in laws help cutting out the pieces of fabric.. I would probably still be working on it.
Sewing though is suprisingly relaxing for me. My mother in law has an extra machine that she said she would give to me...

My mom can make anything. When we were growing up, she made all our dresses. Five girls! Back then, all we could wear to school were dresses and you had to have one for everything. Church, school functions, Easter, Christmas and of course family pictures. Mom would make them match but be different at the same time. She was very creative. She also made costumes, prom dresses, coats, you name it, she could make it.
The last things I made were just for fun things for my granddaughter. One was a silver satin halter dress with black velvet leaves from one strap drifting down and across to the hem. That was fun and she loved it!
Sewing used to relax me also, plus it really gives you a sense of accomplishment.

Nice job, love the fabric too! I am clueless when it comes to sewing. I am so not domestic, I really admire people who can sew because when you can there are so many nice things you can do and not have to pay someone to do them. I'm sure your gift will be much appreciated!
