I was just wondering what everyone here does for their farrier for Christmas. Money, gift certificates, sedatives? :p

I usually just bake people such as my mailman cookies or chocolates or something like that. I don't have much money to pass around! :)

My farrier always gets a Christmas card, without fail. It may not seem like much, but money's really tight for me, and at least he knows he's appreciated.

My usual request is "Just buy another horse" makes everyone happy.

I give mine a tip. I try to do it every year. The amounts change but I still try to give her as mush as I can.

I gave mine a $20 tip ontop of his normal fee and I got him the Oster 7 pc set of grooming brushs with the carrying bag. I'm going to take it to be embroidered with his "company name" so it won't get stollen at shows he goes to. He helps alot of the young kids at shows with there horses so I figure the case of brushes will come in handy.

When I had a shoer, I gave him a $50 gift certificate at WalMart every Christmas.

He took care of four horses, always called me back, was always on time for the appointments, and never missed one unless he had an emergency and would then call to let me know.

I put everyone barefoot and took the trimming back full time; that means my trimmer doesn't get anything except a backache:whack: lol lol lol

I'm going to give mine a $50 gas card this year. He's not coming until Jan 3 though so it will be after Christmas.

Thanks everyone. My current farrier is rather new to me but has so far done a great job and is always here when I need him and I like his work better than my last farrier so I wanted to give him something extra for sure. I can't afford alot so I was thinking an extra $25, I don't know enough about him to know what else to get him so this year he'll have to settle! I don't really believe in giving tips but when someone does a really good job and I don't have to 'chaperone' them to do it its worth rewarding I think.

Menagerie, that is what I just did this week. I gave my farrier an extra $25 on top of his usual fee. ;)

I'm so broke I'm not doing anything. Although I might bake him some cookies or something. Although with my baking skills that might be insulting and I might never see him again.

If he was good - he gets a x-mas card ( ahh that has been like ever since I've known him (21 yrs) and
if he was really good - he has to take me ice fishing at his hot spot !!

My farrier has been awsome for 18yrs! I try to make his job easy all year round, cool drink and shade with a towel to mop his head/face in the summer. Out of the weather in the winter, help carry his tools to the shoe site and back to his rig. I tip him at various times through out the year. He keeps mentioning cookies...

I just got back from a job today, and got my first present!!!

A new fancy auto-darkening welding helmet. Not a cheap gift! And he still gave me a $30 tip. :D
