Ok, so I read a couple replys on my vacation thread that made me realize, no one knows certain things about me. I figured that if there is something that someone may not know about each of us, here is the thread to talk about it.
Mine is my son. People think Im younger than I am, my son is young, but that is not the way it really is. Some people didnt even know I had a son. He is my bud. I left the military for him, and as much as I loved, and miss, the military, my career, I would do it all over again, just for him.
Hi, Im Vicky, I live in MO but I am from WA state. I am 47, married, I have a 27 yr old son, previous marriage. My son has 4 kids, one passed young, one is adopted out, and 2 live with their mother, my son pays child support, medical and sees them often. He loves his boys and is a very patient daddy from what I saw. His boys are 3 and 5. My son says he was a "rich white girl" growing up, says that every little girl wants a pony named princess....LOL. Yup, his pony was named Princess. We didnt like the name, but it came with her.
Anyway, for those of you that didnt know, you do now.
I dont talk about my family alot cause they are so far away, so there isnt much to talk about on here.
Some videos of my son and his boys.

Well, it's finally nice to meet you Vicklynn.
Why do you live in MO if all your family is in WA?
My husband is a trucker. I almost lost him to the mountains. I know we need to over come fears, but IF there is a way to avoid them at all, why not. WA and surrounding states are full of those same mountains. Here in MO, he travels to CA and back, goes over some hilly areas, that, I can deal with. Its my fears, not his. I can fly back and see my family from time to time, but my husband is my partner, my love. He comes first, and I cant stay home and pull my hair out worrying about him while he is on a mountain top, I do that enough when I dont hear from him(cell phones).

That's very true. I don't know if they are any worse but the mountains in PA I find to be pretty bad at times, but then again I'm a flatlander as they say. But many of the trucks (truckers..) have to put the hazards on getting towards the top because they are too steep. That's very scary to think about if you are the wife of one.

Thanks Vicklynn, that was all interesting. I loved the "rich white girl" line. That's funny. You have a beautiful family both unfuzzy and fuzzy!
There's not much to know about me. I was born in Georgia when my father was in the army. We moved back to PA, then they moved to High Falls and Woodstock NY. Most of the family is here in PA. I'm an only kid and do not have any kids. I got married when I was 22 and that was 31 yrs ago. I ended up leaving my beautiful mountains and moved to rural PA. It's nice here but I miss the mountains and would leave here in a second if I could. This might be my man's last year of teaching which means we are free to leave [Teachers can't leave or they loose alot of their seniority etc.] but I don't know if he will since this land has been in his family for generations. We love Vermont, he'd go there but we can't afford it, can't afford Woodstock either but I love it. He doesn't love Woodstock so much but we both agree on VT. I'd love to be in the mountains of CO, MT or WY but I know that won't happen so I have to think where we can go in the east. VT wins every time. We'll see. We are most at peace there, I'm more at peace anywhere I see mountains.
My dream is to live in a house/stable where I'm on one side and the horses are on the other. We have 3 horses. 2 live here, one is boarded with a friend. I love them but don't love any of them like my old horse that I lost 2 yrs ago. He was the love of my life. We have a dog, 3 house cats, a house bunny, an African Grey Parrot and an African Senegal. When I'm feeling OK and the roads are not bad [We've had lots of snow and ice since Oct. this year] I spend my time at my friend's stable playing with her horses and my girl. I didn't really start to ride 'til 2 yrs ago.
That's all there is, nothing interesting for sure!

Vick, thanks for sharing that. And I did not think you were 47.
I am Tanya, am married, 35, hubby will be 40 in 09'. We have one son age 8 who is our world. We tried for over a year to have a second child with no luck and a miscarriage, it breaks my heart when my son asks why he is an only child and I just tell him, "Mom is broken honey." We have two horses, one dog, one cat and some fish. My husband is a workaholic who is self employed buying and selling heavy trucks and equipment. Those are the things I have not shared on a forum, the rest you know.

There's not too much about me. My name is Jess, I'll be 27 in March, been married for 3 years with 2 beautiful boys. Everett is 6-almost 7, and Allen just turned 2 in Sept. Been in upstate NY my entire life, don't know if I'd want to be anywhere else, at least not at this point in my life. I live next door to my dad, my horse is in his barn with the other 6. I run a auto parts store, it's all I've done since I started working at 17. Had horses my whole life, and always will if I have my way. I am a member of our local sheriff's mounted unit, going on 9 years now, and also work for Alpha & Omega out of Texas once a year doing security on horseback at Bonnaroo in Tenn. We have 3 dogs, all rescues, 2 cats, and then there are the motorized toys. Dad has the Harley and the four wheeler, plus we have snowmobiles and a couple small wheelers for the kids. I have one half sister, dad 1st marriage, but we grew up seperately. Other than that most of my life has been posted here. Vick, I think it's great you got to visit your family, and it all went well.

Hi Vicklynn, Nice to meet you. Thanks 4 sharing the videos that was neat to watch!! Thought your son would go flying off the cart thing! LOL.
Hi I'm Leah, 26 y/o poor college student that lives in DE but is originally from Pa. I hate the beach rather be at the lake in the mountains. I live with my soul mate (boyfriend), marriage has been talked about several times but like I said "poor" is defiently what runs this house. :) We have 2 dogs, 1 fat cat & 1 horse. I have no human kids, although I'm dying to have some, its just not in the cards right now. WE live in the boondocks of DE were it our closest neighbor is 3 miles away. Thats about it.

Hmmm.. there isn't much you don't know about me, but it's nice learing about everyone else.
I am 25 and I have been married for almost 4 years. I am a stay at home mom.Hubby is a welder. We have two kids, 1 1/2 (daughter) and 2 1/2 (son). We have one dog, Mac, a collie/lab mix, and two horses. We bought my hubby's parents house 3 years ago and have been fixing it up. His parents still own the barn and the 300 acres, but since we help out with their beef cattle in the winter, we get to have our horses on their land, etc. It works out pretty well. Eventually we are hoping they will pass down the land, etc. and we are hoping we'll be the ones to get it since we are the ones that help out the most, etc.
Other than that... I can't think of anything?

I'm Kaitlyn (yes, Kaitlyn, please not Caitlyn, Catelyn, Kaitlin, Caitlin, Katelyn, Katelynn) hahaha I've learned to not take offense to people who can't spell my first or last name lol. I'm 18, wanting to be an office professional, I have 2 years of college already under my belt, I'm classified as a Sophomore, I'm going back to school in Summer of '09 for pre-med and then hopefully med school to become a correctional psychiatrist, I have high ambition, I love to dream of my future horse facility :), I have a boyfriend of almost a year, we are very hot and cold. I get very nervous and over analyze too much. I'm a nut about spelling, I love to learn new words. This week my favorites are perplexing and ravenous lol. Well I think I'll leave it alone for now, I can ramble very well.

I really like this thread!
Hi my name is Leah (cool huh? FoxFireEMT) Anyways I am 24 years old. My childhood.....mehhh.......the usual story of father left my mother......mother got remairried to a man that made my brother and I call him dad. But between that single span of my mom she had bf that weren't so good one shot at us while we were running to the neighbors. But I love my mom she is strong and with all she went through she is doing wonderful now and standing on her own two feet.
I went through a rougher patch when I got into one of "those" relationships when I was 18.....thought I was in love.....only he could love me blah blah blah.........I moved in with him and his mom and the relationship got worse.........I didn't tell anyone where I was but my mom tracked me down and took me while I was at work in the middle of my shift at wal-mart and that was the end of that.
I finally realized the promise I made myself when I was younger "I will never marry a guy from Tarkington" the school I attended.......was going to be a broken promise. When I was in 9th grade I met this guy in my spanish class.......you know the dork with the glasses....stage fright.....girl fright all that corky stuff. We had to memorize a composition in spanish called Esta Persona (This Person) well he wrote it about me and the only thing he could say was "Esta Persona" over and over again.....of course the whole class laughed at him and that all that happened and the last I heard of him. Wellllllllll 6 years later I got a yahoo IM saying "I'm Santa Clause HO HO HO"...........That was that dorky kid in my spanish class that wrote a spanish composition about me........we talked yada yada yada....started dating Jan 11 2005 and got married Nov 10 2007.............now we have a home, live on a HUGE peice of property have 3 horses 2 dogs. I have so much compared to what I had growing up......God has truly blessed me.
Wow Vick - didn't realize you had a son almost my age! Wow. Nice to meet you! :) He sorta looks like the guy I dated my Sr. year in HS. LOL.
Lets see...
I grew up in a small town in the thumb of MI. I was an only child and was raised by a single mother. I don't even have a name for my father - so know nothing of that side of my family. But its such a small area I probably have met him and who knows - I may have more sisters and brothers out there somewhere...
That all changed when I was 9 and my mom met who would eventually become my step-dad. He treated me good growing up and we did a lot of fishing (including ice fishing in the winter) and I think of him as my real dad. When I was 10, my first sister showed up - Abbey. Then 2 years later came Molly.
I graduated from college in 2002 w/ a Bachelors in Environmental Chemistry. Worked various jobs since, my last one was as a Industrial Health and Safety Specialist, but I'm currently unemployed since Thanksgiving.
I've been married 5.5 years and I've been with the same guy since my 2nd term of Freshman year in College (he was a Senior). So it will be 10 years together this Feb 13th. :D I moved to SE Wisconsin for a couple years (where his family is from), but hated it so after we got married we moved here to KY, over 4 years ago.
Toby was my first horse and he came into my life as a yearling. He will be 8 on April Fools day. LOL - Birthday is fitting for him. I was making payments on him through college and the paid for his training as a 3 year old. Once he was done with training coincided with us moving here and getting the land, so the summer of his 3 year old year he came to live with me.
No kids and will never have kids. The bengal cats and the horses are my kids. :D
Edited to ad: My real name is Jessica, but I go by Jess or Jessie. My husband is Andrew, but don't dare call him Andy! LOL.

When did you add Noelle to your list o' names Caitlin? :D
I knew that you had a son Vick... I just didn't know you had (absolutely adorable) grandkids! :)
Hi, I'm Emily, I'm 21 and in my third year of college. :cowboy: I live in a small town (population 3000ish when the college is out - around 5-6000 when college is in session). Right now I live with my parents on property that my great-grandparents put in my Mom's name when she was two weeks old, in a house that my family finished building when I was two weeks old (they only paid a guy to pour the foundation and to do the electricity).
This is the first time I've lived with my parents in years - I moved out when I was 16 for awhile, lived with them a few months then moved out officially when I was 17. I'm about to move out again - my mother and I get along much better when we're not under the same roof... I doubt there's much hope for me and my father's "relationship" - if you can call it that.
This is something I've gotten a couple of PMs about... I still have all four of my grandparents - I'm not close with my Dad's rich parents (ladies don't ride horses, ladies don't get dirty ) - his father's the one who has alzheimers. I'm extremely close to my Mom's parents, Nana and Papa - Papa's taking chemo right now. He gave me my first horse. :)
I commute to college two days a week - taking between 45 minutes to an hour and a half... depending on who gets in my way. :D I just switched my major from psychology to teaching. After much thought, I realized I enjoyed studying psychology and I enjoyed knowing things about psychology... but I doubted I would enjoy actually practicing psychology in my day-to-day life. :)
Spaghetti is my all-time, hands-down favorite food. I'm engaged to Will (2ndtoleggy). We were planning on getting married this summer, but the finances were lacking, so we pushed it back a year to next summer. I think that's all. :)
Woah cool thread. I've learn allot of things I would have never seen in some of you. :D
Well lets see... I've almost died two times. Once I almost drowned(I got stuck under a boat..)
Also I got an infection in my stomach, and was in the hospital for 2 months.
Also I almost only listen to foreign music. And watch almost only foreign movies as well.

Wow I didn't know you had a son vicky.
My husband is a trucker.
That's scary Vicky. My mom was a trucker a long time ago. My uncle still is.
Hi I'm Horserider. I'm 15 years old and I have one half-brother and one half-sister that are both like 30 years old (weird I know). Both are married and my sister has a daughter (my niece) that's now a senior. My sister-in-law is due to have a baby in January. My mom and dad divorced when I was a baby. I didn't really mind it though since I never remembered anything about them being together. I live in Michigan and have my entire life. My mom grew up here too and most of my family lives here. My dad died of cancer two years ago before I'd even come to horse.com. I didn't think you knew that. My dad was the assistant chief at a volunteer fire department. My mom worked various jobs and then this summer she decided to go back to college and become a vet tech.
I was afraid of horses until I was about 10 years old and my dad took me to a friend's house. This friend had horses and after giving me a tour he asked me if I wanted a ride. Amazingly, I said yes and I had a lot of fun riding an old horse. When I was 13 my mom finally allowed me to have riding lessons. At first I took lessons to learn to jump, but I had a bad instructor so I ended up switching to another stable that taught both English and western, but didn't have the facilities for jumping.
Last summer my mom bought me my first horse, Lady. She had problems, but we managed to work through most of them and I had hoped to show her over the summer. But fate had other ideas. I had to euthanize Lady in June.
I hope to get through my next two years of high school and then go on to college. I have a few ideas of what I want to do. I'm either going to get an MBA, become an animal behaviorist, or take a course on horse business management. Or I may start with the MBA and then use that as a back-up and maybe make some money to take other courses.

it nice to meet everyone.lol
well about me, i amber and i am 22 going to be 23 in Feb. everyone finds my last name perfect for me, its cowgill but if you change one letter you have cowgirl. my parents where never together but i know my dad, he is a nice guy but once he starts drinking he cant stop so my mom left him. i lived with my mom's parents when i was little with her. i was never a daddy's girl, i was more of a grandpa's girl. but then i am also 1 of 2 great granddaughters in my family out of 22 great grandchildren, the other is 12 and a spoiled brat. but most my family is snobs and full of them selves. when i was in first grade my mom married the man she is with now and back then he was great. we went dirk bike riding every weekend and i was a complete tom boy but when my mom had my half brother when i was 8 thing started to change and i started to see the real guy. i was the quiet kid that stayed out of trouble and did not go anywhere, i was not allowed to. because of my mom's husband i have a very warped mind set and i have never trusted men but with the help of a friend in college and my soon to be hubby, mike, i am slowly dealing with that. i have been with mike for 3 years and we have moved about 7 times. he is a fifth generation logger so his work is seasonal but this year his boss has him working now so we might be good. i am one of those people that can get along with everyone no matter what but i love to spent more time with my animals because with them i dont have to worry about being hurt. i was an alcoholic when i was very young because my mom's husband thought it was funny. i dont drink much now but when me and my close friends are together i will but only a few. i am very head strong and loud spoken when i want to be heard but then i learned at a young age that being quiet and sitting in the background can be a good thing. i tend to learn a lot from doing that. i dont speak up often because i dont like being the center of attention. i once had someone describe me as a healer and it seams to fit. i am not sure when else there is about me but thats what i can think of off the top of my head. that and i have 2 horses, 1 dog, 3 cats, 1 turkey, and 2 chickens.

Your horse is so pretty. I have a Congo African Grey too, she's so funny, she just talks and talks and talks.
My late horse's name was Domino. I called him Dommie. He was a black and white Leopard App. I miss him so much.
Hey guys, my name is Jessica, I'm 16 (17 in March). I want to be a Wildlife Ecologist/Conservationist when I grow up. I've been riding horses since I was 9. My first horse I got when I was 12, her name was Babe and we did barrel racing. We retired her to a friends grandparents house, she's still there eating grass all day and just chillin'. :) My second horse was Darby - he def wasn't the horse for me. He was too strong and bucked me off alot, ended up having a back problem and couldn't be ridden. Took a while to find him a home but we finally did. My third horse was my miniature, Champ, I had him at the same time I had Darby, we sold them both to the same home because they were so attatched. That was Feb 08' and I've been horseless ever since. I started leasing Snip Oct '07 (before we sold Champ/Darby) up until this September which is when I started leasing Blue and I've been riding him ever since. Blue's owner also has an appy mare named Chey that I might start riding a little bit soon too. :) And just a random fact about me...I love video games! My favorites are Pokemon! HAHA! I know, I'm a nerd. xD My favorite movie is Singin' in the Rain and my favorite TV show is LOST (which I watch religiously...I'm not even kidding, I watch an episode every night before I go to sleep). I have a dog named Max, he's a dachshund, 11 years old.
Seems to be a couple Jessicas on the forum.

As a matter of fact that is pretty cool. And your close to my age even more creepy!! LOL. They say tough (younger years) make us tough & allow us to make better choices for ourselves! I grew up very poor, although I'm not much higher then very poor at the moment I won't be so much after graduating form nursing school....

Your horse is so pretty. I have a Congo African Grey too, she's so funny, she just talks and talks and talks.
My late horse's name was Domino. I called him Dommie. He was a black and white Leopard App. I miss him so much.
Thank you for the compliment on Domino! We call him DomDom or Brat! I would love to see a picture of your late Domino! Grey are so fun! She is 9 and I have had her since she was 7 months! It takes an special person to have a grey! IMO

Your boy is a beauty. I used to call my Domino Dommie or my Buckaroo or Pony Boy. Some day I will be able to show my Dommie's photo but right now 2 1/2 yrs later I can't even look at one. It hurts so bad, he was a cutie and such a good boy but his death ripped my heart out, I don't think I'll ever get over it.
I am hoping my grey stays sweet, she's only 2 and I worry about when she reaches maturity. I've heard some birds get nasty then. Hope she won't. She is such a rip, she talks non stop. She's been yelling Play Ball, we didn't know where she got that from but now we're thinking it's from me telling her that Roger Rabbit is playing with his ball which is his favorite toy. She can also sing the whole Hi Ho song, we've been working on it, it took her awhile but now she can sing [and she sings it too] Hi Ho Hi Ho it's off to work we go then she'll say Ho Ho Ho when she's done. It's a circus in this house with her! She has such a vocabulary and when I try to tape her she shuts up!!!!

Tyler barks just like a dog, when we open the door in the a.m. for my husband to leave for school she'll say Noah No {so our dog Noah doesn't walk out the door too} then when my husband goes out the door Tyler starts to bark. She is funny. Never a dull moment with her around.
I have some beautiful photos of my Dommie, if I can find them on my other computer maybe I can post one without having to actually look at it. He was such a good boy, we had a bond that I can't explain. I have 3 horses now and I love them but I don't have the bond I had with him. I feel bad about it but he was very special it's very hard to explain. I don't know if he had good conformation or anything else I just knew he was meant to be mine and he was so good, that last day will haunt me forever. I wish I could bring him back but that can't happen so I try to just go on and love the others and enjoy my time at the stable but every time I look at a Leopard App. I think of him.

When I was in my 20's I took airplane flying lessons. I soloed a number of times and went on one cross country flight. It was hard for me because I could not hear air traffic control very well.
I went through a number of instructors and each one I had to go over the basics with again before I could solo. My third instructor was pretty good but he left to work in Wisconsin, so I quit. I wasn't going to prove to yet another instructor I could fly.
VERY VERY EXPENSIVE hobby by the way. I sure wish I had some of the money I spent back then now.

Well that's interesting Miracle Whip.... I used to fly too. I guess that's the thing many may not know about me... I went to college to become a pilot. Earned a commercial, multi engine license, and flight instructor rating. Gave some lessons but it's a hard way to make a living in this part of the country, and I kept getting distracted by better paying jobs I could get elsewhere. Finally after one winter of getting another job to get me by, I never went back and never got back on track. Some of those I went to school with have become quite successful but they worked hard for it. One was almost too successful. The plane that hit the 2nd WTC tower was her plane, her day off.
I occasionally still have some regrets about letting it go, and considerable guilt about the very expensive education my folks paid for that I am not using. I'd be beyond rusty if I tried to get back into it now. Maybe as a hobby later on.... we'll see.

IT was fun while it lasted though. That last instructor of mine used to stage emergency landings every single time we went up!! I think now I'd rather do the hang gliding thing - there is someone who floats around near the horse stable. There is a private grass air strip just down the road...

I got married at 19 had our first child 5 months later. Still happily married to the same wonderful guy after 18 years. We had are second child when we were 25. My husband works on MRI's. I am a stay at home mom. Are oldest is in her first year of college this year. My son's All-Star baseball team was invited this year to the Little League World Series in Williamsport PA to play two expedition games against two different New York teams and they won both games. I have 4 horses, 7 dogs most were rescues cases, 5 barn cats all rescues, 36 chickens and 9 large Pekin ducks. I won Easy Jet Too's son from Horse city. Sold him 3 years ago and got him back this past September for free. It was liking winning him twice. He was trained English while in his other home. I knew really nothing about English when I agreed to take him but I am now taking English lessons and loving it. Just last year would have never guess I would be riding English let only loving it. I now know why Prize keeps coming back to me. He was meant to be the horse to teach me to be the rider I always wanted to be and to take lessons like I had always wanted to do but always put the family's needs and wants before mine an just kept putting them off.

Well, I'm Kathy--the old lady of the bunch. I'm 54. Have 2 kids, both adopted. My daughter is a 2nd grade teacher in Baltimore and my son works our farm and raises Newfoundlands. My hubbie and I have been married 34 years. He's retired but does consulting work. We have 3 horses, 3 donkeys, 7 dogs and 2 cats. My mom came to live with us in August and she is EXHAUSTING. She knows everything about everything especially horses which is quite funny since she grew up in Pittsburgh and has never ridden a horse! But I digress--we're living my dream owning our own farm and having the animals.

Oh I remembered some more that I don't think you know. After my mom and dad got divorced I had to spend my weeks at my grandma and grandpa's. Then I spent every other weekend with my dad and the other weekends with my mom. My grandma died when I was in 3rd grade (I was only 8 years old) of a stroke. That day is ranked as the worst day of my life. After that I moved in full-time with my mom, but still spent every other weekend with my dad. Then he remarried to someone who was....weird to put it lightly when I was about 12 or 13.

Vickylynn is this the first time you've mentioned that you were in the military? I don't remember you ever saying something about it. I've been retired from the army for 10 years now and there are some things I still miss about it. My son is going to Air Force flight school and my daughter is already in the Army reserve and planning on going to Army flight school (like her ol man).
WB I think you would be surprized at how easy it is to get back into the actual flying. Re-learning the FARs and all the other stuff might be a challenge.
I'm kind of like Steve, it would take a long time to say what you don't know about me.
One thing I will share is this: I had the privelege of serving next to real live heros.

Nope, not the first time Ive mentioned it. I post on the military posts we put up all the time. I am very proud of my adventures in the Army. I only served 6 wonderful years. Combat Medic was my first MOS, then I was Flight Operations. Loved both, but Flight Ops was the best of the 2. I served in Golden Phesent(Honduras) around the time of Just Cause, and it was a blast, even getting up to grab a weapon at 3AM..lol, remaking firing positions(baby scorpions everywhere), and knowing Flt Ops was the first to go if we got attacked(I was so tough back then). My last duty, while on Ft Lewis, was the Airfield, that was awesome. So if any of you flew into Ft Lewis(1991-92), got crud from Spc Greenwood, that was me...LOL. That was my airfield, and I loved it. I was the only fully trained Flight Ops person there for quite some time, so I took it personally, and my replacement was trained by me, he was pretty cool. That airfield was my puppy. Man I miss it. My higher ups wanted me to go to PLDC, I said NO so many times, they wanted me to go farther, and to be a Drill Sgt. I liked being a bossy E-4..hehehehheeee, and as a Drill Sgt, Id of been the one one you didnt like.

My grandfather was from Hungary and was a labor worker that never drove.
I was shown one year how to make wine (real wine - in wood cedar barrels)
The next year I assisted him , and was advised to clean out the large press barrel.
(I was informed cleaning the barrel was more important than making the wine)
I started getting hot ...
Then ozzie ...
Awh then I said I needed to take a break , and went out side, while my head quite spinning...
I was drunk and never took a swig - I was 8 years old.
=============
The next year I suspected I would be assisting again , and eventually take over, unfortunately grandpa - John passed away. To this day , even though I was so young , I miss him. ( very strange - but what I admired about him , was the simple life he lead) :coffee:

Well I know alot of people don't know how old I am because I haven't gotten the "how old are you?" alot soo... I'm 18 yrs old, will be 19 in a few months. I have been riding since I was little but started competing when I was 12. I took Hunter/Jumper lessons for 7 yrs and then decided to take some dressage lessons to help my jumping but then fell in love with Dressage  lol.
I have am the only one in my family that rides but my mom had horses when she was younger but they were just backyard pets, they didn't show or anything. But my family supports me which is nice,
I was in Ballet starting when I was 3 yrs old until 12 yrs when I got into horses. I also took Gymnastics all the time and help teach because my mom teaches gymnastics.
I haven't decided what I'm going to do for college yet (I know, shame on me), I will probably end up taking some basic classes until I figure out what I am doing. I am working 2 jobs, one as a Barista and one at a Ranch and I love them both. I am training Niko my 3 yr old Haflinger and we will be showing Training Level in May and hopefully moving up a level a year. So when he will be turning 6 and I would be turning 21 we should be showing 2nd level. My goal for him is to get as far as possible and show everyone you don't have to have a warmblood (I have nothing against them lol, I just like to be different). My dream is to qualify or at least train for the Olympics in Dressage and unfortunately it probably won't happen on a Haflinger but oh well... :D

i dont think you can ever forget, i dont think anyone should as hard as it is on us. it shapes us into who we are today. as much as i hate my mom husband and want to kill him, i once had a therapist tell me i could and plead temporary insanity and have it work in my favor lol, he made me the person i am today. i cant stand seeing people go through what i did so now i help those i can. i found out a lot about myself because of him, but if you where to ever give me a gun and a way out he would not be around.

Hi, I'm Tom. I think I've mentioned most of the interesting things that people don't often know about me. I used to be a bit of a thrillseeker and have always been interested in new experiences. So, I've been skydiving, bungee jumping, cliff diving, scuba diving, hang gliding, I'm a licensed glider pilot, rock climbing, windsurfing, years of motocross racing, and so on. Horses have proven to be as much of a challenge as any of those things, though. :)
My mom passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly (massive stroke) when I was 14, and that has had a profound effect on my life, as you might expect. We were very close and she had a great joy for life. A lot of what I get compliments for are a result of me wanting to live my life as a positive reflection on my mom.
I've been happily married for almost 22 years now. We don't have any children.

Wow Vick - you have beautiful grand babies! Maybe when it's time for retirement you can move back "home" and see your loved ones more often... but in the meantime I sure don't blame you a bit for wanting your hubby to be safe. In fact, I think it makes you a pretty amazing person to put him first.
Reading through this thread has been informative, eye opening and heart breaking - we have quite a diverse and wonderful group here.
As for me... I am Kristi-Lynn, 39 y/o, born and raised in WA but have spent time living in CT, FL and CA. My mother divorced my father when I was one and he rarely showed up for our monthly weekends. I lost complete touch with him by the age of 10 and then found him when I was turning 18 so he took me out to dinner. He was a chain smoker, heavy drinker and very depressing... I went home that night very thankful for my step-dad who married my mom when I was three and did a great job providing for us and loving us.
Both my mother and father are alcoholics and my brother and I saw some pretty ugly fighting and disgusting behavior from both of them while growing up - I couldn't wait to move out (although I feel guilty to this day for leaving my brother behind). I believe I was following their footsteps while in highschool and college - there are nights I don't remember and days I woke up still drunk... sometimes in unfamilar places and with men I wouldn't have given the time of day when sober. It was all great fun until when I was 31 my mom had to live with me for a little while (Dad had already moved to their new home three hours away and she had six months of work left). She drove drunk, went to work late - sometimes didn't go at all, made a fool of herself and me multiple times and I even saw her pee her pants once. I started to hate her and joined Alanon where I learned about the illness and found that I loved her and was just scared for her. After that I started to seriously limit my drinking and it is on a very rare occasion that I will have more than two drinks and I have a very low tolerance for drunk people. My mother still can't handle her alcohol and once she starts it's usually a good two day drunk... thankfully my Dad no longer drinks and manages to take care of her and the benders only happen every couple months. I love her dearly but am glad she lives three hours away.
I got married almost five years ago after deciding I was never going to be married. For me, life is better with someone to share it all with and we are happy living on our ten acres with our five cats, four horses, three dogs, rabbit and goose. He grew up with an alcoholic father so we understand each other pretty well and neither of us wanted kids although we love spending time with our nieces and I'm the first to offer time and "help" to friends kids who need an "auntie".

My name is Chesseray (Chez-er-ray). My name is Italian, moms side of the family. I am a heinz 57. My nationality is 50% Italian, 25% Dominican, 12.5% Black, and 12.5% Indian. I am as grade as they come lol. I grew up with my mom. We ate pasta and sausage everynight. I swear she put sausage in everything. I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nv. People think Vegas is all city but it is actually very western. Horses everywhere. I've been married for 3 yrs. My husband is from State College, Pa. He is a good ol' fashion country bumpkin. My hubby is in the AF (E-5). My mom hates that he is german and not italian. Oh well. She says " What are there not any more good Italian boys in the world?" and I say nope cause look at me..:p , Pisses her off...I love it. I started riding when I was 5 or 6. My first horses name was glue. Both of my parents ride horses, (well not anymore). I moved out of my moms when I was 15 to work up north (northern Nevada) on a cattle ranch. That was the best time of my life. Umm.. I love Chinese food, and my horses have a better life then I do. :)

This is pretty cool, I am almost done reading but I thought I'd add my stuff and then continue...
I'm Mandi, am 26 years old and live in Santa Cruz, Ca. I was born and raised here but left to Los Angeles for four years of college. Graduated from Cal State Northridge with a degree in Journalism and somehow ended up back here :) I got a little too sucked into the glitz and glamour of Hollywood life where I worked at KTLA news station and later TMZ. The partying and boys got a little out of hand and the only way I could get away from what it was turning me into was....to rip myself outta there and get back to my loving family and REAL friends. Although all the high paying job opportunites were there, I'll never regret that decision to come home.
I grew up with two very loving and caring parents. They separated when I was 5 but really dragged it out until they divorced 10 years later. They both have since met and married their soul mates and will most likely be with them until the end. They were not right for each other and I couldn't have chosen better people for them to end up with. They raised us beautifully and split us 50/50...my dad was having NONE of the "you can have them every other weekend" bussiness. By us I mean I have an older brother who is 28 and lives back down in Hollyweird. I love my bro, wish we talked more though.
My mom is a dentist and my step-dad is a pastor. My dad is a rescue/reasearch diver and my step-mom is an occupational therapist who specializes in the Feldencries method (spelling?). I have ridden horses since I was 6. Owned my first horse at 16 (Lucy, a 15.2hh chestnut TB) took her to college with me and eventually sold her to a young girl.
I live in a house with four other girls and it's wonderful. I have never experienced such harmony with this much estrogen flow. I love comming home every night :) I have a 4 year old Chihuahua/Daxie named Sage and I manage an optometrists office. My mom and stepdad like to go on family vacations (lucky me:)) so we have been to Belize, Costa Rica, Chile, Italy and Greece. I am usually laughing the whole time because my mom ends up yelling at people when she talks to them and I have to remimnd her that they are not deaf, they just don't speak english. Meanwhile my step-dad gets us lost everywhere we go and tries to pretend it's all in the plan.
Ok was more than enough info about me :)

A man that can wear a "skirt" is a man by my book! LOL. No seriously, I'm having my cuz play bag pipes at my wedding. (If I ever get married)

Clan Henderson, I long ago learned 2 put up with the skirt comments, about 3 years ago on St. Patty's day after the parade, some drunken yahoo started a brawl over the whole "man in a skirt" thing now I just blow it off esp since women tend to find it sexy that alone usu. shuts billy joe redneck up. I mean who is more western than me right? I am a rodeo cowboy, work cows, train horses, and generally live a cowboy life so what other people think is their problem not mine....besides I like wearing a kilt!

Well If I offend anyone, I merely didn't mean too. Just was playing around b/c I, too, was told about the "skirt" thing when I was very young when I asked my cuz & uncle why they had skirts on. I will no longer joke about that. I said "skirt" because I was aware of the issues with the problem of people calling them "skirts". Thus the reason I put it in parathenses. Anyway I appplogize.
