I would definitely double take the name but for them to refuse to put it on a cake is pretty crazy...I've had some ridiculous things written on mine and my friends birthday cakes and they wont write Adolf Hitler Chambel?? Now come on...

Maybe not, but when people name their kids they need to consider the mental abuse the kid will undergo in school! Do you know how much teasing and prejudice that poor kid will have to go through just because his parents think a name is just a name?

Of course they wouldn't!!!! I would much rather be named something very common like Chelsea or Jessica then a name that's one of a kind, but hated by most everyone!

It is NOT the governments job to 'take care' of everyone. Shall the government now tell us what we can and cannot name our children? Part of being a nation with rights and freedoms is, we can have the choice to do whatever is within the laws. Now, granted, sometimes folks do stooooopid stuff....but hey, that's life. Look at all the kids from the 70's who had goofy names from the drug-induced parents........who grew up on communes in the middle of nowhere......

There's just one problem with that. Those kids aren't named Joseph STALIN. This wouldn't matter so much if they had just named their kid Adolf, but no they named their kid Adolf Hitler.

this is a free country but I think that these names are pretty offensive. Don't get carried away Steve people aren't saying that Adolf or Aryan is a horrible name to name your child but "Adolf Hitler" and "Aryan Nation?? Come on now. People like this are looking for trouble and it's horrible that these innocent children have no say in their names and will likely be shunned for them.

I see debate... and he raises a good point, so does Remali. The most obvious issue to be raised in a thread like this beyond "How awful parents did this" is "what should govt and society do about it? - if anything". Debating those points of view is a good thing. And merely stating, even strongly, those two, differing points of view is not attack. It's how society decides these things.

If you have a point of view on that.... express it! Argue it, consider the arguments against it.... and decide :)

I agree with that. GOVT isn't the answer. Folks just don't realize that in most cases they can act on their own.

Education of the general public on the history and brutalities of our past could go a long way in making sure that history does not repeat itself. I think with most things like the holocaust it is simply SO horrific that many are in a great hurry to forget. Meaning that the true brutality of it is lost and not passed along to our youth.

That said, I think these parents may have some hidden agendas that they are not being truthful about.
