Ok so here's the story. In my school they offer an Entrepreneur class to learn how to run a business. I made the horrible mistake of taking said class.

Now Entrepreneur Day is coming up around February 13th and during that day we actually have to sell things to the other classes during lunch. I have no idea what to do, but since it's the day before Valentine's Day I thought I might do flowers. Problem! I'm broke. So I told my mom last night about Entrepreneur Day and told her what I was thinking about doing and she says "Your going to make flowers?" and so I said "No I'm going to buy them." Then she goes on to tell me that we do not have the time or the money to do it.

I go into class today and tell my teacher that my mom told me that we didn't have the time or money for me to do this. This is what she said: "All the time is during the day during class and if money's a problem well then I can pay for it." NO NO NO! I come home and tell my mom this. She gets mad and said "That's stupid. If we don't have the money then we don't have the money."

Bottom line: I'm going to go into school tomorrow (hopefully with a note from my mom so I don't have to explain it myself) and I'm going to tell her that my mom thinks we can come up with the money, but she's not sure about me doing flowers. As a back up plan I can always ask Papa to help me buy the flowers and things if I have to. I'm hoping to find some way to get out of Entrepreneur Day since it's really more stress than I really want to deal with right now.

I think flowers sound like a great idea for that time of year. You could buy them from a local florist, telling them what you're doing, and hopefully they will give you a reduced price. Or if that's not feasible, you could get them from Wal-Mart. Seems like I recall Wal-Mart sells bouquets of roses for ten or twelve dollars. You could sell them indivitually for $1.50 or something like that. And if your Mom doesn't have the money to bankroll you, then I see no problem with getting a "Business Loan" from someone else. Businesses do it all the time when they need operating capital. You just need to make sure that you sell your flowers for enough to cover their initial cost, a little profit, plus any interest that you plan on paying your "investor". Real Investor's don't loan money for free, even though I'm sure your teacher or your Papa wouldn't charge you any. Just don't stress too much about it. Use it as an opportunity to learn about how real businesses work. Capitalism is a wonderful thing! ;)
