As some of you know, I was having a problem with my hot water heater this morning.
Joke of the day: How many people does it take to change a hot water heater element?
Try five! One to test it- my godfather. One to take me in to town to get the element- my godfather wasn't feeling well, so a friend took me in. Both my friend and I to drain enough of the hot water heater to put the top element in. (Decided to be smart and change both). Then the bottom element won't come loose. Have to call another friend to bring different tools. He brings his wife with. In order to get the bottom element loose, she has to stand on the pipe wrench, lol! I'm still hauling water during this.
Finally, I have hot water!
The moral of the story- if you have good friends, you can get almost anything done, so always value their friendship, and give help back when needed!

now as my hubby would tell you.. it's not a HOT water heater. Why would the water need to be heated if it's already hot? It's just a "water heater". :p

Hey it could always have been worse! My friend and her husband were recently out of town, leaving their 16 year old son home alone (he's a good kid). While they were gone the hot water heater busted. So they had a local 'trusted' handy man come put a new one in. Well as it turns out the local handy man just left it for the 16 year old to install himself... while this kid is very good at mechanics, he shouldn't be in charge of this unsupervised! He actually does a good job and gets it installed. However, no one ever noticed that the new hot water heater was a natural gas one, and they have propane! So a week later when they're home they end up with a gas leak and the new hot water heater exploded. Luckly everyone is ok, but it was an expensive lesson learned by all!

Holy cow! I've heard plenty of horror storiea about natural gas and propane water heaters as it is. One of the reasons I won't own one.

This is about the fourth time I've had to deal with this since I've been here(16 years). I don't know why it is, but I think only once has it happened in the summertime, lol!
