How exactly do the cameras on street view work?
I was playing around on Google Earth tonight and decided to see what the street view was all about. I followed the cameras along the freeway past Solon and Tully's (Sol's new pasture buddy) and actually found a picture of them. It's from late summer, but still.... how the heck could there possibly be any camera's around there??
It's freaky!

We don't have street view in my area cause we live in the middle of no where but on google earth satelite view when you look in my pasture you see a horse on it's side. Lol. Sonora was flat out sleeping. Pretty funny. Can't really see any of the other horses cause they were upright. Very cool!

I think they actually pay people to go out and take street view pictures, and it really weirds me out. To think that there may be somebody out on the street, taking pictures of my house and posting them is just TOO weird!

I think anyone can submit pictures too - you just log the lat and long of the location where the picture was taken, or find it on the map.

I find it creepy that they can be watching all the time. My husband is always on the Google Earth thing, he enjoys it. I think it's interesting but disturbing too.

Wild. Thanks for sharing.
I find it rather disturbing...
Now I am going to have to go play and see if I can find anything around here.

There is a whole group of folks that try to find naked people (out sunbathing and such) and put of the links to google earth - now that is funny and scary ;)

They have a car carrying a camera on the roof. They just drive along and it takes constant pictures of it's 360 degree surroundings. I loved it when we were house hunting. It helped us a lot.
Now I'm gonna go spy on farmers_wife and see if I can see Rashad. :D

You can download it, but you don't have to. Just go to google.com and type in your address. It will give you a map option. Click on that and you will be at google maps. This pretty much exactly the same thing and you don't need to download. Also I don't think the street view is available on google earth.

Thanks. I found it, and saw the satellite view, but it's hard to see and they don't have images available for zoom. I live in the middle of nowhere too.
We also don't have images available for satalite zoom - thankfully. Heck, they couldn't even find my road! Had to use the main road to even get in the area.
